This is completely off topic, but has anyone else here seen the movie, "Alexander"?

I rented it last night and watched it. It was one of the worst, most convoluted pieces of crap I have ever seen. The story was completely incoherent, the actors were all speaking with different accents even though they were supposed to be from the same place, and they made Alexander have the emotional control of a 12 year old girl.

Anyways, just though I'd share my thoughts. If you have seen it, what was your opinion? If you haven't, thank your lucky stars and run like hell when you see it on the wall at the Blockbuster.

never saw it, didnt look that great. on a related note, who has seen sin city?

Seen Sin City and liked it, it had a nice dark feel to it.
Calibus, I couldn't agree with you more on Alexander. I "picked" up the DVD the week after it premiered out so I'm glad I was only out 5 bucks instead of the 10.50 the movie theater near my house gets.

Hehe, I just tried to rent Alexander yesterday. I took it to the counter and the clerk told me to go find another. I didnt even know the guy! Well looks like he wasnt kidding. Instead I went to the theatre and saw 4 brothers. What a great movie!! Thumbs UP!

I thought Sin City was awesome and not only due to Jessica Alba. If you overlook some of the 'artistic license' with firearms, I think it was very well done. Of course, any movie with Bruce Willis in it automatically starts at 3 out or 5 stars and can only get better...

Yeah, I saw Sin City at the theatre and actually rented it again last night and just finished watching it a couple hours ago. It is a really good movie. I also rented Kung-Fu Hustle and I am about to watch that in a few minutes.

I didn't think Alexander looked that interesting either when I rented it, it's just that I have that Blockbuster movie pass which costs like $25-30 a month, and you can always have 2 DVDs out at a time and trade them in as often as you like. So it doesn't cost me anything extra to see every movie that comes out so I usually do unless it is some genre I have absolutely no interest in.

BTW, welcome back to the internet Axe :D

Alexander was one of the worst movies of the year. Sin City was the best movie of the year so far.

I saw TROY and thought it was ok...Don't like the actor in Alexander..whatever his name is...strikes me as kind of gay...your critique is exactly what I thought it would be.

Haven't see pork chop hill...will have to check it out. I like dark movies so I'll check out sin city.

Hmmm - a few other movies you may want to check out if you haven't already:

Léon (Directors Cut of The Professional) - excellent movie starring Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, and Natalie Portman as a kid - highly recommend it, especially the directors cut which is significantly better

The Replacement Killers - Chow Yun Fat and Mira Sorvino - some serious action in it

True Romance - Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette with smaller roles by Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, James Gandolfini, and more - very dark but excellent movie

true romance was written by tarantino right? i think i have seen it.

I do believe you are correct - I have all three of those on DVD - directors cut of True Romance too, if anyone wants to borrow them - don't think they rent the good versions in most video stores and I'm not sure what Netflix would have...

sin city was great. Any feedback on wedding crashers?

I liked the first half but there is a certian point at the girls house where it immediately goes from awsome comedy to total chick flick. That kind of pissed me off. On a side note, will farrell was one of the best parts of the movie.

He has the best parts in all his movies IMO...remember Old School...it still hurts like hell from laughing so much when I watch that movie

Calibus, great pick w. Kung-Fu Hustle!! I loved that movie, but could be that I'm waaayyy into kung-fu flicks! Let me know what ya think about it!

if anything with Bruce Willis in it is automatically at least 3 stars, how do you explain The Fifth Element?

Kung-fu Hustle was great fun. Crazy as hell.

I liked the Wedding Crashers but like most funny movies nowadays, they suffer from having to have a moral at the end. Why can't they make more movies like Dumb and Dumber where they don't apologize at the end and try to make the characters look redeemed.

Bob, if you like war movies watch Heartbreak Ridge with Clint Eastwood. That movie is funny as hell.

Well, despite having Chris Tucker, I would give the Fifth Element 3 stars. It has Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman. And, the best/worst part is when 'Evil' calls Gary Oldman on the phone.

All in all, I always saw the Fifth Element as being a futuristic Hudson Hawk - another movie alot of people don't care for but I think is actually very good
