Corojo lovers - what's your favorite?

I suppose I need to revisit the Cusano Corojo. Did not like it the last time I had one.

This is an unfair question.

Thats OK Alex, you're an unfair player. You have access to things the rest of us don't have. :(

For me its a pretty close call between the Cusano and the Edge, but I'm gonna call the Edge my favorite by a nose.

I have to stick to my guns and say the punch rare corojo. Haven't had a 97 in awhile though, I'll pick a few up at the local shop to get some taste tests going on.

Alex---How come Punch can call these Corojo when they are not, in fact, Corojo?

I still LOVE them though.

I had no idea. Shows what I know

I have not had a lot of corojo, but one that I remeber being excellent was the Flor De Oliva Corojo Torpedo. It was aged quite a bit nd since it was a gift I do not know how long it was aged but I am thinking at least 2 years. It was really smooth, but full of flavour. Full bodied and this omewhat sweet undertone that was real good. Kinda of like brown sugar. I loved every puff of it.

My top three are the same as Alex's

1. Don Pepin JJ Belicosa
2. Tatuaje
3. Padilla Miami Belicosa

I believe the wrapper is ecuadorian sumatra leaf. I'm have no idea why they call it corojo.

Correct. Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. It is called Corojo, because of the reddish hue.

Remember, it's "rare" Corojo.

:D :D :D
Well, I guess you can't get much "rarer" than none

Then Punch has that all wrong as well, every cigar store I go to has hundreds of those cigars.

The not so rare definitely not Corojo. That fits. 8)

Pfffft. Every one I've seen is more of a Colorado. I guess Rare Colorado doesn't quite have that ring though.

The Diploma was my first favorite "Corojo".

I understand that Corojo wasn't always Corojo. It may have been seed brought to Cuba from elsewhere (Indonesia earlier 1900's) and then coined "Corojo" for it's new home soon after. Maybe Punch isnt fibbing. Who knows??
I asked a higher-up at General Cigar a few years ago and he pretty much answered me in riddles, so since Corojo in Cuba had to come from somewhere....
