distilled water

Freedomguns--the endurance gatorade. I want my cigars to last a long time!

Cian--I am familiar with Brita filters, but we have a PUR. I am assuming that would be similar enough?

Or I can just remember to look for distilled water when I am at the grocery store. Or learn to boil some water. Thanks for the advice!

i dont see how mineral water can affect cigars. eventualy it can clog a humi spong but the moisture that contacts the cigars is evaporated, the minerals do not get air born through natural absorbtion into the air in a box. the only thing that could affect a cigar is a chemical that eventualy evaporates like chlorine or somthing.

Woodgirl,

IMO a PUR would do it. Cigars and humidors soak up everything in their surrounding area; i.e., why you never mix flavored cigars with unflavored  (you don't even have water that cigars and the humidor are soaking in - yet everything, to include the humidor, takes on the flavor of whatever you put in there. Since you are spending good money for sticks, and in some cases a lot of good money, a little care goes a long way.

I only used distilled water in all of my humidors; for my desktop humidors I buy from the supermarket; my cigar cabinet has 2 Oasis electronic humidifiers -- I get cartridge replacements. You should hear what the Oasis people say about using non-distilled water.

I have got to get myself an Oasis...but the humid season is just around the corner, so I will probably put it off to Fall.
