First Cigar You Enjoyed

My first cigar was a Romeo y Julieta Churchill, I bought at a resort in Mexico, the cigar was from a popular little Island. I got hooked.

My first cigar was probably a phillie or a swisher, can't remember.

I decided to try premiums once I got some cash flow, and I've been smoking them for a few years now. I think my first real cigar was a Romeo y Julietta (maduro?). I remember asking for the cigar with the fullest body in the store.

The first cigar I really enjoyed, was the Onyx. I remember that being my first 'usual' Right now, the Punch Rare Corojo's, and Bolivar PC's are topping my charts.

Heh..with having a wheel of them, I can imagine so. lol

Great thread. I enjoy reading everyones responses.

My first cigar that I truly liked was the Onyx Vintage back at the tender age of 14. Then my buddies day gave me a monte no. 2 and I never looked back.

circia 1955, I went to visit my great Uncle Riley at his farm in Gettisburg,Pa with my parents, we walked in to his living room, the room was dark all but a small table lamp sitting over an ashtray full of cigar butts, the siptoon was on the floor right beside the high back chair that Uncle Riley was sitting in , there was an empty bottle of beer & a glass about half full sitting there next to a bottle of Jim Beam & an empty shot glass , in the ash try was a freshly lit Marsh wheeling, "orginal & gen-u-wine" as Uncle Riley would say, well I saw it sitting there & I picked it up , took a puff, & caughed, My dad said well if your going to smoke it , smoke it ALL. , well I was in the bathroom in a few minutes barfing up my guts , BUT , I loked the taste of the smoke, so the next afternoon I asked My Uncle WHY did I get sick? , his answer was , Cause your still $hitten yellow Boy , well he took me out in the row boat , figured he could get me to "chum" for the fish in the pond, hahaha, well he lit up 2 Marsh Wheelings & handed me one , PUFF & BLOW IT OUT. PUFF & Blow it out, Puff & blow it out, slow & easy, taste the smoke dont swallow , well that was my second cigar & I havent stopped since , I did make the move to Premium cigars a few years later, my first upscale cigar was a Fuente , I dont remember what size it was, But I was a regular on Canonies for many years , a box of 10 was 27 bucks retale, yep $2.70 a stick , Dammm I miss those days , now that same cigar is over $6.00 ! OH THE memories of some of the old sticks I have smoked , ahhhh goood thoughts & great cigars, what a combo ! , Enjoy, Vince

The first cigar I enjoyed was a no name cuban (at least the guy in the store told that's what it was). I was on a cruise with my Mom, brother and step father when I was 17 years old. One day we stopped in St. Thomas. The store I waltzed into sold duty free liquor, so I bought a bottle of Vodka and a large water bottle (the cruise company made you pour out or held onto all alcohol purchased on shore until the cruise was over). So while masterminding my smuggeling of contraband onto the ship I had noticed a large case of cigars. I figured I was on an island so I might as well try a cuban since I had heard great things about them. I asked the clerk for a cuban when he stated that US islands do not sell cuban cigars and offered me a Macanudo. I kindly turned down the cigar and waited until the next island we stopped at the next day. The following morning we arrived at St. Martin. While on shore leave I found a smoke shop. My brother was with me and kept insisting that we ask for wacky tobacci. I used my better judgement and asked the clerk for a Cuban. It was a non label cigar and asked him again if this was a true cuban and he insisted it was. Being a non cigar smoker and wouldn't know the difference anyway I took his word for it. I paid about 8 usd and was off. My brother kept calling me a fool for spending so much on a ciar and said, "For two more dollars we could of had a dime bag". I assured him that any item he bought on the island to smoke would be far more of a waste, because it would surely be fake. Well, we were back on the ship and I was relaxing in my state room with some contra band vodka and a nice cigar. I shared the two with my brother and a friend we had met and everyone really enjoyed the velvety smooth smoke with cheap vodka. I could tell in my brothers eyes that even he liked the cigar very much but still insisted it was a waste. Well he may be right that I had a quick one pulled on me, I will never know. What I do know, is that was a great cigar that I enjoyed imensely; and I was hooked ever since.

Years later not knowing any better I began buying Macanudo Portofinos and I claimed them to be the best cigar for many years to come. Then I found cigar.com

Does anybody remember the Reas All Havana cigar? We can still get them in our city, I saw some the other day at my local B&M. Anyway, that was the first cigar I smoked. My brother and I bought a box, asn smoked them all. Then I started reading up a little bit and learned about R & J (highly recommended), and all the other different Cubans. To think if I had bought a bunch and kept them properly, they would have been worth a fortune today.

Now I have started this journey again, and began with a Guantanamera that some friends brought back from Cuba in the spring. You know the story, hooked again, and exploring all the different tastes that cigars have to offer!!

the first cigar i enjoyed was a fake cuban, i cant remember the name, but the second cigr i enjoyed was a macanudo Duke of Devon

The first on I truly enjoyed was a Flor de Oliva Grand Cameroon. Very smooth and not too powerful. From there I think I went to a Diploma, a couple of Rare Corojos, and pretty much all over the rest of the palate. Really like the CAO Brazilia Gol also.
