There have been quite a few Marines that have risen through the ranks from enlisted to officer. I don't know of any that went from private to Sgt Maj then from 2nd Lt to Gen.
I know that Chesty Puller was enlisted then went the officer route to retire as a Lt Gen.
My old base Gen, Maj Gen Bice was enlisted up to GySgt then got commisioned and went to Maj Gen.
