I got bloom!

Hi guys,

I know I haven't been around very much lately. But I thought you all would like to know that I got bloom!

For those of you who don't know (which is probably all of you), I bought my first humidor (75 count + or -) just a couple of years ago. Up until then, I was buying singles from local cigar shops when I wanted one and out of the kindling box they call a humidor in some of the QFCs around here.

Normally I only access the top tray of my humi, where I keep a selection from what I store in the bottom, as well as whatever singles I've picked up at the local cigar shops. But tonight, I decided to check my inventory for the first time in a couple of months and I notices a light dusting of what appeard to be a fine white powder on some of my sticks. I picked one up to investigate closer (in the fear that it might be mold), but found that running my finger gently across the surface removed the white powder with ease. There also was no clumpiness - just a very even, thin film of dust.

I think I will be moving more of those into the rotation in the near future. I won't mention them by name, just that they are higher end cigars from the "T" word.

In other news, I tried a new stick tonight. It was a Sancho Panza (which I always enjoy); but tonight it was more specifically an Escudero (Double Maduro 7.25 x 54). It may be the most consistent cigar I've ever smoked, from front to finish. And it was smooooth (after sitting in my humidor for something close to a year - probably a couple months over). I highly recommend it.

A bit of a long update; but heck, it's been a while. :) I hope all is well with all of you (smoka, bloof, castle, everyone else).

It has indeed been a while for you. Good to see you around here, hope all's well with you and your household. Glad to hear about the bloom. Keep us updated, and hope to see you around more.

Congratulations on the bloom. It is what every cigar aficionado hopes to see every time he opens his humidor.

It sounds like you have a pretty good selection of aged cigars in there so I would expect that you will see more bloom as time goes on.

I'm sure someone will come along with a more in depth answer, but basically bloom is a good thing because it shows that your cigars are aging properly.

I'm coming along to confirm what bkelm18 said. Nothing to add, nothing to get excited about, nothing to elaborate about.
