Any preferences? Why? Style, flame, functionality, brand or technology loyalty?

As for me, I love the butane torch type. Yes, they are temperamental, and whether they are the under $10 or over $100 kind, even if you follow the instructions for care and refilling to the letter, sooner or later, they will--------, . . .

ummmmmmmmm, ahem, . . .

crap out on you, but I love the flame they give, and it's the cleanest burn you can get. Just always have a backup on hand, and resign yourself to making the butane torch manufacturers rich for the rest of your life.

As for you Zippo enthusiasts, yes, I'm jealous, and no, I'm not switching, . . .

but you'll never hear me complain or put down any other kind of lighter, especially yours.

I'll be over in the corner with the rest of the P.T. Barnum crowd.

I had a Colibri torch lighter that I picked up in a small cigar shop in Newport. Darn thing was $100 but looked and worked great. I think it lasted a total of two years before giving up the ghost. That was disappointing. For that kinda money you'd think it would last a little longer.

I've had a Blazer CG-001 for about 12 years. Just starting to get tempermental now, just ordered another. Forty bucks and 12 years of service ain't bad. You just can't kill the thing. Very sturdy, purchase one if you have the chance.

Bigg Bosss Mann, I was trying to be nice, but yes, if you go Colibri, you'll go nuts in no time flat. I won't even get into the DuPont's or other lighters than can go for SEVERAL hundred. And Colonel, Blazer is highly reputed. I've been holding off because of the price, but maybe I'll give it a try, since $40 for 12 years beats $10 for one or two years. :D

All I can say about my lighter is :argh: followed by :banghead:

I'm going to take a look at the Blazer.

Being cheap:

Scripto.

They make one of those long-necked things (for lighting things like campstoves, lanterns, charcoal imbued with a whole can of lighter fluid,........your hair) that is wind resistant. About 5 bucks. It lasts. It works. Let's smoke!

that's what i use, too. i have 2 of them in the garage

That's what I call an endorsement from unimpeachable sources. I'll have to check that out. In the meantime, I decided to stop going for the cheapest and step up in price and see what happens. Just took delivery of a Colibri (yes, I know!!! ) Illuminance, and a Colibri Quantum Champ, both on special at paylesscigars.com, one of my all time favorite, and still reliable cigar web sites. The Illuminance was supposedly at half price. So far they're working well.

Well, at least it wasn't the HUNDRED DOLLAR COLIBRIS!!!

So Colibri butane is no good, ehhh Colonel??? I'll have to write them to change the directions to read Volcano instead of Colibri butane, LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

All I ever used was the Colibri brand butane. Maybe that's why my lighter kicked the bucket early.

I have the Cigar.com Colibri double torch ignition system. So far so good, haven't had any problems with it yet. Go Colibri!!

I have found an easy solution to the torch lighters crapping out. Go get yourself a can of the spray compressed air that you use to clean computers/electronics. I believe they are like 3 dollars from a computer store. Everytime your lighter starts to give you trouble spray the bastard down the area where the flame comes from. It should start running just like new.

where can i get one of them long neck butane can things for 5 bucks? that sounds just like what im looking for. the only thing i hate about torch lighters is they have such small capacity! only a couple lights and i have to refill it. with no window i dont know if it actually fills. im about to go bic all the way.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I like to use just a regular ol' BIC lighter. Burns clean and lights my cigars up nice and even.

Zippo with Z Plus insert. Works wonderful, and so far, no problems! Guy at the shop that I bought mine from said hes been using his since they came out, with no problems. Using Ronson Ultra Butane.

Roburn Microtorch at home and a Colibri micro torch when I'm at work or out. Right now I'm using King triple refined butane. Works beautifully!
