Calibri Issues

you sure its a lighter and maybe not something else usefull :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Judging by the gas station it came from, maybe... When I took it out of the wrapper and opened it for the first time I actually yelled out. People just looked at me like I was such a... well, I'm just gonna end that part of the story there.

I dont understand why the z plus is so dependable...it uses the same quarze ignition that the torch lighters do?

By George, I think he's gawt it!!! By the way, I have one of those long torches too. Probably not as big as the one used on creme brulee, but it could be used for that. It's that powerful. Mine's called a pencil torch, and is supposedly used mostly for model making and small household chores, like soldering, etc.

If you find an old calibri that uses Flint , buy it ! the flint type always work, the eletronic , & peazo or what ever they call it suck, but the flint never fails ! Enjoy, Vince
I have one that DevilDog gave me. It's works great (not the best for outdoors but, great for indoors.) I like the zplus for outside. It's cheap and I can still use my old zippo.

I also have a colibri robusto lighter (also has a punch cutter, which is nice.) I've never had any problems with it. I clean it out every so often with canned air.

I picked up a Colibri Quantum Arc on ebay for about $25 (with punch cutter on the bottom) - had it since July 2005 and no problems at all with it. Guess I've been lucky.

Brenda, when you say you cleaned it with compressed air - any hints on what you did? I'm not too bright.

Colibri lighters are the scourge of the lighter industry. They have been a pathetic product for years. Even their top of the line DuPont Extend has serious issues with it.

The best and most reliable torch lighter is the Blazer PB207. There is nothing on the market that comes close to it for performance and longevity.

If you want a great flint lighter then DuPont, Davidoff, Dunhill and La Corona Old Boys are excellent choices.

Kelvin, next time you're in Staples, you can get a can of their own brand of "compressed gas duster." It's the kind of stuff you spray on computer keyboards or anything that has nooks and crannies that collect stubborn dust buildup.

There's nothing bad I can say about Blazer lighters. They are the original and they are the best. Their butane is top flight also. It comes in huge cans, compared to most butane cans and is very cheap.

Thanks for the info on that Bloof...I will pick some up this week just to keep it cleaned out!

Fantastic link, Stickman, fantastic. Those are 170 gram cans, $19.99 plus shipping, which I imagine would bring it to about $25-27, a little over two bucks a can. I got my 150 gram Blazer butane cans for $2.50 plus shipping, so under $3 apiece, and you have to buy a case of 12 to get that deal you linked. But at a price like that, who WON'T spend the money on a case of 12? Thanks for the tip, a great one.

I love that killer torch they have,,what a way to fire up a stick....it holds about a half a can of butane

Uhhhhhh, yeah, I can dig it, Stickman, but I'm not even using my pencil torch for anything yet. That's like showing a Bentley to a guy who doesn't even have a car. Talk about temptation!!! :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh:

Wife got me a triple flame Colibri for our 4th anniversary last Summer and it's worked like champ thusfar. Took me two months to figure out how to properly refill the thing.

Looking at that lighter on King Butane reminded me of Duck Soup where Harpo Marx pulls a full size blow torch out of his pocket to light up.

It's 24 degrees here in Big D right now and the Police and Rescue folks are hopping according to the scanner.

Brrr.

DUCK SOUP!!! I've gotta pull that tape out someday soon and watch it. One of the great movies in my personal memory banks. I love The Marx Brothers, truly do.

"My father was a little headstrong,
My mother was a little Armstrong,
The headstrongs married the . . ."

Sorry folks, it's considered EXTREMELY politically INCORRECT to finish that one these days. Groucho wasn't a racist and neither am I, it's just how the line went, and it was funny, mostly because of his facial expression. It's interesting how when you look back several decades, someone like Groucho Marx could say something like that whereas today, he'd be in a corporate mail room three days later, working for eight bucks an hour.

It's a line from Duck Soup, which was a great movie, and I'm sure that Groucho meant nothing by it, other than that it was his usual silly, tongue in cheek type of humor.

Times are different now, but Groucho never lost his edge. I've got a copy of his very last public appearance stashed somewhere. He was doing a one man show that Dick Cavett had arranged and he was still funny.

I've got Duck Soup and a few others on DVD. Lots of laughs there.

Remember, you're fighting for this woman's honour, which is probably more than she ever did.

I've got a lot of their movies on tape. I've got to get that converted to DVD before too many more years go by.

"Pea-NUTS, pea-NUTS t'you!
Pea-NUTS, pea-NUTS t'you!"

That scene is the epitome of the slow burn. I love it.

My other slow burn is:

Getta your tootsie-frootsie ice cream!

I have a Large Photo of Groucho hanging in the Qtr.Deck right next to George Burns & other famous cigar smokers , LIKE ME ! hahahaha !! Enjoy, Vince

VINCE, you're telling me that GROUCHO MARX and GEORGE BURNS hung out in YOUR QD with you?!?!?!?!?!!! THAT must've been a night to remember.
