Ma! A hurricane be a comin'!!!

Looks like Ike is about to pound into the coast line of my beloved Texas as I type this. It should make landfall just west of Galveston Island late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

We are about 200 miles inland and just a little west of the major projected path. The local news says that we will still get category 1 winds and to expect power outages, flash flooding and possible tornado outbreaks.

We are stocked up on canned food, water, oil burning lamps, and ammunition.

If it gets bad here, the sign that will be in my front yard will say:


LOOTERS WILL BE SHOT, WOUNDED LOOTERS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN.

HAHAHAHA!!!!

In all seriousness, I think we will be okay here. Just a little bit of severe weather. I'll keep you guys posted over the weekend.

Business as usual here in Central Texas. I went to the bank this morning and then to the grocery store. The wind is up with gusts up to 40 mph. There was about a ten minute sprinkle of rain when I was out, but it is dry now. I may smoke a cigar later. Going to grill up some baby-back ribs for supper and drink a Crown and Coke-Zero.

Freak!!!! A hurricane the size of Texas hits TExas and not a drop of rain here! Go figure. As it goes in Texas, I'm sure we will get a snow and ice storm tonight.

Hopefully the people in the Galveston/Houston area are okay and can get back to normal life.

THANK YOU to the mooks that called and wished me and my family well. I appreciate you guys and will think about you tonight over my cigar and cocktail.

All is well in my part of the "outback". The outhouse is still standing.

5:40 pm.

The sun is shining, and the ribs were excellent! Unmeasurable amount of rain this morning. Winds 5-10 mph.

Storm is now located in Northeast Texas.

Quess I'm back to watering the grass tomorrow.
