Memoir of a Novice

The one thing that I can think of is a spike in your RH. If there is a spike, this can cause expansion of your cigars and eventually cracks in your wrapper.

Update

Well, I am a little over two months into this wonderful new hobby of cigar smoking... and I am loving it more every day! This forum, and the people who frequent it have been such a great help and so much fun to be around! Thank you all for your contributions and I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you. I think I can safely say that I have made some great new friends here, and eagerly await the opportunity to meet some of you in person.

My tastes are deffinately changing as I try new cigars... I can't say that I yet distinguish the many complexities and subtelties of the cigars I smoke, but every cigar now holds hidden flavors and new experiences for me. If asked at the beginning of this year, how I felt about the 75 count humidor I bought, I would have said that it was more than I would ever need... now two months, two desk-top humis and two coolerdors later.... I am looking into a humi cabinet...sheesh!

SO... after my short expereience in this hobby.. my main advice to other newcomers is to try as many different cigars as you can (at least twice) and buy as BIG a humidor as you can afford (or get away with)

Cheers
