Ministry - the band

Great band.
Back in the day when my buddies and I used to ride ramps, we'd always have music blasting.

Two of the songs were:
N.W.O. (New World Order)
Jesus Built My Hotrod

I like them a lot. They aren't a grunge band like Nirvana and Pearl Jam and they aren't a heavy metal band like Slayer or Megadeath like I grew up with. They are someplace in between. It's great angry music. Really pumps you up. It's the kind of stuff I listen to when I'm feeling a bit angry myself...better to get it out through music, or when I'm getting pumped up for a hard workout. My workout partner just sits there and laughs when he walks in the gym and can hear some good music like Ministry coming from my mp3 player and I'm sitting in the corner with my eyes closed.

All in all, I think their music is good. The true test, like with any badn is whether or not they will be able to stick around.

I used to listen to both of these songs back in High school!

k, so im confused. by the titles it sounds like they are a satanic band, but i dont see any evidence of that in the lyrics of the few songs i could find, so what are they even about? are they just another band using religious overtones because it sounds "cool" and makes them look badass?

Never heard of them.

Ringmaster, Pearl Jam fans cringe at the term grunge being used to identify Eddie Vedder's masteries. Technically its alternative. I can't tell you the difference between the two but its there.

Ministry is pretty good.
If you like them, I suggest you check out Testament, and old school Metallica

Ministry was a great bad, sorta Pre white zombie era where a band was mixing samples together and putting it all together in a great hard rock/metal kinda way. Fizzled out do to a miserable live show....Hmm...much like white zombie...LOL...But I loved them both.... Get the horns up!!!!!!

That's a very interesting statement quagmire, you like zombie and Rammstein, but ministry was too metal? Rammstein is brutal as metal comes. you just can't understand what they are telling you!!

Of course as it's been established in the past, I'm a metal head no matter which way I slice it, I listen to it all, but when I really want to enjoy some tunes, give me a heavy guitar riff and some blistering drums to put a big grin on my face!!!

You know its interesting that you say that. Now that I think about it more, I think the reason that I think Rammstein is not that hardcore really is that I can't understand the lyrics. But some metal and death metal you cant understand the lyrics either but its in english so its frustrating and isn't enjoyable.

Nice BP...Very solid rendition!! Quagmire, I like the way you think....They could be calling you a stupid american who doesn't understand what I am saying, but it's still catchy! LOL... :D

Since I don't speak german it would be hard to tell. But I've read that they're music is mostly about the hardships faced by the proletariat society in East Germany.

Still its like rap music, it can have the most rude, crude, obscene lyrics, but people still dance and listen to it if not just for the beat.

Chris Rock talks about this phenomena in his Never Scared show. One of the funniest things I've ever seen... WAAAAYYYY too innapropriate to post here.

I do really like Rammstein and Rob Zombie though.

I really like Rob Zombies Music.
A friend of mine played key boards for him at one point.
Not the guy invited to ministry tour, but they asked him first and he was playing with Prong at the time and couldn't do it, so he hooked another friend of ours up with the gig.
Rob is not the kindest person as far as bussiness goes and pretty much found ways to make all the money himself and screw everyone else out of their share. (Well maybe I should say - he made the big bucks and payed everyone as little as he could)
That said he is a great artist -
