Well yes, but suppose he was Mick Jagger shopping for cigars, or better yet, Keith Richards. Those guys don't exactly dress in tuxedos all the time. Let's say they walk in with those ripped in one knee jeans, with t-shirts, and work boots. Now, because it's Mick and Keith, they get the royal treatment, right? But they're not dressed "professionally," are they? Well, if you're an aging rocker of the black mood genre, it is. There's a guy on another board who talks about going in to cigar shops dressed "down" so to speak, and watching the attitudes change when he rips out a roll worthy of "Uncle" Mike Bloomberg.
I think that being dressed "professionally" is not only in the eyes of the beholder, but also a very discriminatory category, leaving too much latitude for one to be the victim of disrespect. As long as you're not smelling like unfortunately, some of the homeless on the NYC subways, it shouldn't matter what you dress like, as long as one presents themselves in a polite, respectful manner.
