Welcome.
Cigar after a long days work is I think the best time to smoke!
Ya'll share a cigar, or each smoke one? I suggest smoke your own:)

Cigar sharing

No ~ we each smoke our own. We have been smoking Cohiba, Punch, Excalibur, etc. Any other suggestions. I can afford good cigars and as a chef I enjoy something full of flavor.

Welcome to our world Masterchef :D
I'll trade you some cigar tips for any culinary tips you wish to share with me. I'm attending CCA in San Francisco and I'm having a blast! I can't wait till my Principles of Contemporary Cuisine class because Jurgen Weise, CMC will be my instructor. Where did you train?

I trained at the Culinary Institute of America. Passed my CMC exam in 1988. Was on the 1988 United States Culinary Team and Captain of the 1992 United States Culinary Team.

Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me. I have been looking for a forum to discuss and learn about cigars. I tried them several times and must have bought some bad ones because they always tasted that way. Lately I have moved up into some top brands and actually found them to be very good tasting. Maybe some of you can lead me into what to smoke every day and/or for special occasions.

I hate to show my ignorance, but those accomplishments sound really impressive. I didn't even know there was a US team?!?! Is there an international level of competition?

5 Vegas A series is an awesome daily smoke, and easy on the wallet as well.
Cusano 18 is another, a bit more expensive...but youre obviously a distinguished chef..you can afford it:)

Yes, there is in fact a Culinary Olympics which takes place every four yours in Frankfurt, Germany and more recently in Eufort, Germany. It is a competition amongst approximately 39 countries bringing about 2000 chefs together to compete for the world championship. We also compete in Singapore, Canada, the United States, Switzerland, England, Ireland and Japan to name some other places. The United States Team was sponsored by six major companies (Kraft Foods, Mondovy Wines, Uncle Ben's Rice, Tyson Chicken, etc.) and we had a budget of $2.5 million for each team. I have 39 interntional gold medals and a very large number of trophies, awards, placques and other medals. Sorry, I'm not bragging but you asked for more information. Teams are formed by chefs who compete across the country and every four years there are tryouts for the US Team of which five chefs (four chefs and one pastry chef) out of about 200 major competitors win a place on the team. You are on the team for four years ~ all expenses paid.

 That's awesome!
Great daily smokes (besides the ones syntax mentioned  ) would be:

Fuente Hemingway, Fuente 858 Maduro, ERDM Choix Supreme (Cuban) :D, Camacho Diploma (if you like full-bodied cigars), Oliva, Flor de Oliva, Rocky Patel Vintage

For special occasions (and to me, any time could be a special occasion), I highly recommend Opus X, Fuente Anejo, La Aurora 100 Años, and you could take your pick from many of the Cubans that are out there.

Masterchef, welcome!! It is nice to have another chef on the forum. Although I never attended any culinary arts school, I did learn to cook in the firehouse. I too am from Detroit, Commerce Twp/Novi area. Hopefully we can get together one day to share some great smokes and great food!! I am having a sit down at my house in June, a.k.a. Cigar-B-q. You are more than welcome to attend. By the way, any cigars you are looking to try and haven't, let me know, I probably have them. Ryan

I agree with Axe, Opus, Cubans, adn Cien Anos are awesome for nice occassions...

Hi everyone.

My name is Paul Smith and I work in the IT department for a local school district. I am 47 and just a newcomer to the wonderful world of cigars.

I love everything coffee and am a coffee snob. I have a couple americanos every night from my Rancilio machine. I roast my own coffee and can't stand store bought.

I have a great cigar sghop close by and there are a few not too far away in the DFW area that are great.

I am originally from Southern Ontario and moved here a little over 5 years ago.

This has to be the best board for information and I thank Cigar.com for it's existance.

Cigars in General

Good Day ( and Evening) all!
I just spent the evening (between watching the movie Taxi with my family) reading all the introductions that have been on this forum for the last little while, and am very impressed with the variety of people that post on here. It is AMAZING the wealth of knowledge that exists here ready to share. I have been lurking around for a while, but this is my first post.
I am a 48 year old father of two teenagers in Saskatoon, who has been into music and popular culture almost my whole life. I got into pipes when Lord of the Rings first came out, motorcycles and cars when I started to drive, and now cigars and music once again. I have been a letter carrier for 28 winters, but our summers make it all worth while.
I love the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Maduro, and ordered some Coronas that will be here soon. I also have tried a CAO black, and also some Hurricannos, and even a Canadian cigar or two. Loved them all, and want to try some more whenever I can. I have ordered some Flor De Olivia's, and trying to make up my mind what 5 pack to order next.
Thanks for reading all of this, I know it is long winded, but once I get going it is hard to stop.

Take care you guys, see you soon.
