I have changed the name to protect the innocent!

Timmy fell down the well!
Lassie barked and barked.

No seriously.

I was a little pissed back in June when a close friend put his Avallo cabinet up for sale on a cigar board without asking me first.
Hell he thought the 3 cooler were working fine
Well another friend jumped & put a deposit on it and said he'd pick it up at the end of the month.
Well he still had not picked it up.
Seems some money problems were keeping him from paying it off.
My friend's wife was freaking this cabinet was eating up every bit of space in her laundry room and wanted it out.
I told her I would take it!
(only after asking the other guy if he could pick it up within 30 days)
Sunday I drove down there and paid for it.
Smoked a Cohiba Sublimne (sp) while watching the Jets take their first loss of the season  (the cigar was amazing!)

Today my friends are dropping off my new Avallo cabinet!
It is a monster!
I was thinking I'd throw it in my car.
A BIG OLD CADDY, no way it would fit!
58 inches tall - 30 inches across - 28 inches deep
an amazing 4 reservoir humidification system.
Set and forget.
The only draw back it is must be filled!
Funds are a bit low with my flood recovery, but I will do my
very best to make it happen as quick as possible!
I am just thrilled to know that this bad boy it heading for my bedroom today! (yes it will live where I sleep)
I have a Aristocrat Mini in the smoking lounge & look forward to moving the special cigars out of everyone's reach.
I have traded off the three coolers of Non-Cuban cigars
& cut my collection down to Cuban only (for the most part)
What a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your new Cabinet Castle!! I've been working about two months now to fill my medium sized box cabinet, it's coming along!!

CastleCrest, I can see the big smile on your face as you are telling about your new aqquistion. I have a vision of El Grande Humidor well stocked with dream smokes, with a 100Lbs of the finest green coffee beans stacked along side in those colorful bags, A damned fine sight, and, as good as it gets! Regards

Humidor made it here last night!
It is one Big Bad Mother Plucker!
I am sure 100 boxes will be nothing in this bad boy!
2 pull out drawers and a bottom tray that slide out.
Really a beautiful peice of furniture!

When you get it all settled in you should post a picture for all of us working from a tabletop box to salivate over. I know you will have a blast searching for inventory and getting very good at knowing where and what to buy just like you did with the coffee. It's fun, and, we all keep learning which is a good thing. Regards

ALready went a little crazy,
So far I ordered:
2boxes RyJ SPorts Largos
2cabs Party Shorts
1box Hoyo Pyramids
A good start I think :D

CastleCrest I'm into good coffee (thus my interest in roasting) I appreciate really old smokey scotch, but, my taste in cigars is for the milder smokes. I have been gifted one or two cubans from friends who went to mexico and bought what they were told were cubans and knowing that I smoked cigars brought me one back. They were very strong and made me wonder what the big deal was about them. Now, I wonder if that is the nature of the cuban product, or, if they were counterfiet specials for well meaning tourist. Regards

I've always appreciated milder cigars. While there are some light to medium bodied Cuban cigars, even they generally give more of a "kick" than most non-Cubans, especially the Dominican cigars. One must be careful in selecting Cuban cigars if a kick is not that desirable.

I have 2 comments:
First what Bloof says is true, Cuban cigars tend to lean on the stronger side. But not all!
There are some - Punch Punch, Cohiba Robusto & others that are by no means a strong cigar.
Second, 98% of all the cigars in Mexico are fakes.
There are really many more fake Cuban cigars than people think.
Even in Cuba it is very common that fakes are sold.
Many people think a box at the factory is $200 and on the street you can buy something that looks the same for $50
Most people think there in Cuba so they are Cuban cigars.
Well they are Cuban cigars, just not the right blend/mix
& usually trash!
When in another country the only way to know you are buying the real thing is to go to a LCDH
LCDH = La Casa De Habanos
that is the company that sells the real stuff.
I see it all the time, cruise ships, traveling friends are so excited to be bringing these fake Cubans home.
They get smoked and people think this is nothing special!
It is sad really!

I have been lucky with the Cubans that I have smoked. I have a friend that I smoke and hunt with. He is very generous and will give me a cuban here and there to smoke. The once he has given me I find oh so tasty. I try and even it out by giving him some cigars that I have found tasty, but not cubans. The other night he gave me a choice of a cuban or a TT trindad. I knew the cuban was good, but he said the TTs were really good too so I tried that one. It was tasy I smoked it all the way to the nubin. I feel lucky that he shares with me! :D

hot damn...an empty humidor!

ahhhh....the credit card ods MUST be smiling!

100 box humidor aye? Let me know when you get it all set (and preferably) full - I'll be right over to the castle to inspect and sample for quality assurance purposes. . . of course.

I didn't realize you guys held classes over here. I'd have signed up for lessons a long time ago!

Shhh "L"keep it to yourself.... quiet as it's kept, Bloofington thinks the cigars with the "pasta" bands are a true marquee / name.
