I just smoked my first rare corojo of the season and the new batch. My favorite size, the magnum. What has everyone else thoguht about this batch?

I liked this one better than last years. More flavor and more complexity. However, it is obvious there is actually no corojo tobacco in it. After getting into camachos this year and the 100 anos I have really been able to get a better feel for corojo cigars. I wish they would not advertise the rare corojo as a corojo. But it is still an okay cigar.

i didn't smoke one from last year, but i smoked an 05 magnum yesterday and thought it was very good. The rest of the box is going to sit until this time next year.

I've smoked a couple. I am not an experienced cigar smoker, but I really liked the Punch Rare Corojo a lot. Also, I have been through several boxes of the Diplomas that you all like so much, and I like them, too. But I have to say, I think the new Camacho Corojo Dark is a more flavorful smoke.

yes i cant say one bad thing about the diploma or camacho corojo dark. By far and away all three lines of camacho corojo are a personal favorite. Bildo, agreed the rare corojo 05 was good.

I'm right with you Macallan about the lack of corojo leaf, very evident in the taste. They do seem more complex and I'm looking forward to seeing how they age.

Glad to hear it is a good batch Macallan, I won't be breaking into mine for sometime to come though. I will have something to look forward to. I like the cigar, but like whats said above, it is no corojo, and only rare because of marketing strategies. A lesson learned from the Fuentes I believe.

All of this waiting until it ages stuff is fine, but I have several boxes of Cubans waiting. My box of San Christobel La Puntas have about 8 months on them. They are much better now than they were when they were new. I just started smoking cigars about 8 months ago, so I have a long wait for some of the Cubans to age. As a result, I'm always looking for stuff that tastes good fresh.....I guess my favorites right now are the Ashton VSGs. Good powerful smoke. Then the Corojos... the Camachos and the Punch. The few Fuente 858 maduros I've had are good, also.

i will smoke ERDM choix supremes fresh, but otherwise I smoke NC cigars while i age some stuff.

Actually the NC's are typically aged longer out of the store then Cubans. Cuba does not age their tobacco for 5 years like a lot of the non cuban brands maily becuase of the condition of their economy. That is why many cubans age noticably better.
