I saw some posts about guys that have reef tanks.
I am curious - any books that are a must read.
I'd like a year of reading before jumping in -
Thanks!

Don't know where you are, but there is a really nice Salt Water Aquarium store in Terre Haute, IN, west side, just off US 40.

I visited it while killing time on a trip out there. We visit my sister-in-law near there, at least once a year.

Best advice I can give you is take your time and plan everything. Also probably have someone professionally do the pluming. I flooded my living room once while setting mine up :). I am glad that I did it though so I can completely set up my next one but damn what a mess. Oh and buy a predrilled tank for the in tank overflow.

Must have books are :
Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History by Eric Borneman this book covers everything about any coral and should be read before buying a new one so you know how hard it is to take care of.

The New Marine Aquarium: Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking Guide
is a nice little book that covers a tun of basic stuff.

Make sure you keep in mind this addiction is very expensive. I've put over 4 grand into my 70 gallon display tank (I stopped keeping track after that.) If you have any questions please feel free to pick my brain. I've only been doing it for 2 years but I've learned a lot. Great forums that I learned a lot on http://www.reefcentral.com/

this is why i do fresh water.

easy as all get out.
plus ive always been a fan of koi.

Aww but nothing beats the corals and fish colors. My tank is actually very easy to maintain after it was set up. It was just very hard in the beginning. I only do about a 15 gallon water change once every month and change my carbon filter around the same time. Other than that it handles its own.
