Reload a Credo

I just ordered some 65% beads. I was wondering, If I take my credo appart, remove the green foam, and clean it out. Could I put the beads in it and put it back on the lid where it was originally? Or should I just put the beads in a cup. Its a 50 count humidor and I was looking to conserve space. Any suggestions? thank you :D

I certainly don't know much about humidors, but isn't there slots or some other type of venting in the credo? and if so, how will you keep the beads inside when you close the lid? Let me know what you find out, for space in the desktop humi is always a high commodity

My credo is a small round hockey puck, with tiny holes in it. I'm pretty sure the beads will stay inside it

i believe you may want two of those size to fit a 50 ct. But if they aren't falling out the slots then i don't see why it wouldn't work

I've done that to a credo in the past for a travel humidor.
Some smaller bead peices did fall out every now and again, but other than tha it worked fine.
Not sure you could fit enough beads in it to keep a 50 at the right RH, but try and see what happens

iof the bead fall out you could put the beads in the pantyhose and put that inside the plastic credo. i'd start with the one you have, but like these guys said if it's not enough you may need another one.

good luck, let us know how it works.

The ratio "Viper" at Heartfelt provides is one pound per 5 cubic feet.

I calculated the space of a 50ct to be approximately .33 cubic feet. That means that fifteen 50ct's is equivilent to 5 cubic ft. Since there's 16 ounces in a pound, as long as you have an ounce (OF BEADS PEOPLE! ) in there you should be fine. I don't know what the mass per pound of beads is but I would think its about two credos.

Thank you. I calculated that my humi .125cuft, should need about 1/2 oz of beads. I'm not sure if they will all fit in the credo or not, so I ordered a few of those empty bead tubes Heartfelt sells. Just In case my credo plan fall apart. I like the panty hose in the credo idea. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Thanks for all the info and advice!!!

Wow, I really messed up my math on that one. Maybe Bobberriffic should have helped you. He's the math wiz...

Well the beads fell out of the credo. My new 150ct humidor just arrived. So I'm going to season and set up the new humi with the beads. Then i'll work on the 50ct humi. I'll let you know how it goes. I think Ill try the nylons in the credo

Hey, jesse, there is a very good thread on cigarwise about this. Actually it is about using kitty littler instead of beads, but the principle is the same (btw, the kitty litter would save you a lot of cash if you decide to do another humidor) the thread is well worth the read for anyone interested.

Is it legal to post links to other forums here? don't want to get the mod hammer thrown at me...

You could take a few cigar tubes and a small drill bit -
this way they can be placed as any cigar would be or two or 3.

Great idea CC. I never thought of using an empty cigar tube. I have a small 7ct. travel humidor that currently has a boveda pack curled around the inside. This might give me just a little more space in there.

What a great idea.

I have a drill press and dowel holder so it'd be pretty easy for me to do.
Ooooo. . . I wanna do that, too. You folks have all the good ideas. quagmire, can you post pics after you try it?

the update. I took an old pair of my daughters tights. cut a small circle out of it. just large enough to cover the inside of the credo. I wet the beads, then put them on the nylon . closed the credo and put it in the humi. when the lid is closed the beads lay on the nylon and dont fall out. when i open the lid (slowly) the beads slide to the side of the credo (no holes) when I close it they shift back to the nylon. seems to work ok. time will tell. The beads seem to work just fine. I did the salt test on the anolog hygrometer that came with my new humi. It was perfect. But when I put it in the humi it reads very low, and I know my digital works just fine. Weird??this happen to anyone else?

Do you have any thing with a magnetic charge in there? Maybe it has a magnetic counter balance for the pointer to keep it level in the solution inside.

the digital hygrometer has a magnet to attach to the ld that might be causing it. thanks, thats a great thought. i'll move it as far away as i can get it and see what happens.
