I did the salt test on the anolog hygrometer that came with my new humi. It was perfect. But when I put it in the humi it reads very low

They just don't work.

Salt test it a few different times and it will change.
That is why they suck!

I agree with CC. But to jump like that from one place to another? No offense Jesse, But could he have mixed the salt solution wrong? I used a boveda pack when I tested my digital so I don't know.

I guess quag was right. it seems to be fine now that I moved the digital/magnet away. thank you

Wow, that was just a wild guess based on what I know will happen to a compass. I had no idea there was anything in an analog hygrometer that would go haywire when exposed to a magnet.

Either way, rely on the digital's reading and just add or subtract if its not correct.

do you have to "charge" the heartfelt beads before you use them, or are they ready to go when you get them?

Just add water. thats it. Distilled. The web site at heartfelt will show you how to use them

yup, just add water, not too much, leave about 20% of the beads white so you know you didnt add too much water.

Don't just pour water on them. Either use a spray bottle or let them absorb water from the air. If you just pour water on them, they can absorb too much too quickly and shatter.

Most people just sit a shot glass of water in their humidor over night, the beads will suck up any water needed.
I know of people using a spray bottle.
In the winter in my Mini cabinet I have a bowl filled with beads
I usually just pour a small amount of water on them every week or two. The beads change to white when they get dry & become clear when they are wet.
In the summer when it's reallt damp out I will place the ebads in the sun and dry them.
Then back in the humidor to keep the RH down.
Works well well the air is damp!~

I did this a couple of days ago with the three puck humidifiers I have. Ditched the green stuff in them and filled them with beads. It's working great.

In my small coolerdor I used a humitube that had a sponge type filler that I ditched. Filled it with beads and seems to be doing great.

the RH in my coolerdor seems to be jumping up and down ( I can understand drops when I open it, but today it was up to 71% and i have the Oasis set at65%) I am hoping that by adding some beads to it, that I can stabilize the RH better.
