rock climbing

I've used to climb a lot. My favorite place was Seneca Rocks. Unfortunately, a bad health situation caused me to quit many of my hobbies like that and whitewater kayaking. It's quite the rush though. Nothing like hanging from a slab by a few fingertips with your heart racing wondering if you're gonna make it to the next hold. I used to train a lot at an indoor gym in Cleveland but it's nothing like the real thing. I still have my gear and the health has taken a major upswing in the last year. I really hope I can get back into it again.

Where have your favorite climbs been? Seneca & Shawangunks are the places to be in the east IMHO. Yellowstone is great for the west but never did any of the climbs there.

no i just started climbing i was wondering if u can help me find a good brand of harness or any other kind of gear for a reasonable price? mostly rope and a harness. and i live in Pennsylvania and im 16. i just found out how fun and exciting it is.

I’ll answer this in the same manner when someone asks me if I run…………

If you see me climbing a rock you better start climbing too and try and keep up!

Try EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) online, and also REI online. I used to climb alot. We do some rappeling at work, mostly mid-angle, under 20 stories. When looking for rope, the best I have ever used is PMI. All of our prusiks are made from PMI rope too. Good luck in your search. Try Googling rock climbing equipment and see what you come up with.

I've done some basic stuff, but nothing too crazy. Most of it was on inside climbing walls. Pretty fun, but I don't have the time/money to really get into it.

Side question for Capt - what rope/webbing do you guys carry in your bunker gear? Our vollie dept doesn't have a standard and every person I ask has different ideas or doesn't really know (it's just what they were given - hope they don't ever need to rely on it)
