Cigars have been a way of life for me since adolesence. From age 14 to 20 I smoked just about anything I could get my hands on but always thought Cubans were the best of the best. That was until the late 90's and early 00's I started getting bad runs with my cubans and found that to get any good quality like the days of old you had to buy the limitadas. This turned me off. 2 consecutive boxes I bought were too young and I abondoned Cuba all together, convinced at the time there were better non cubans out there. I found many loves in honduras, nicaragua, and the dominican republic. Saddly I found myself only smoking 1/3 of a cigar and never taking the time to sense the pre light aroma, toast the foot, the proper cut, etc. Dont get me wrong I was still very passionate about cigars, but the romance was not there anymore. It was like a married couple that still loves each other but have lost the excitement through to much routine.

Last night the romance returned. After not smoking a cuban in 5 years (except for a few here and there I recieed as gifts) I bought two boxes a few weeks ago out of the blue. Partagas D Limitada and Upmann No. 2's "Cuba is back in my book" The cigars I smoked last night were fantastic. I feel like a cigar smoker reborn. I will still primarly smoke NC's but man it was like falling in love all over again last night.

I am glad the spice has returned to your "relationship". I have never smoked a cuban myself mostly due to the cost. The prices I have seen on the net are much too expensive for me, but I am perfectly content with my non-cubans. Here's to the great piece of heaven known as cigars. :wine:

I have to agree in that around 00 the quality of Cuba cigars had fallen. There has been a turn around in quality since then.
Personally I still think The quality of construction is better outside of Cuba.
Cuban cigars are often plugged & rolled to tight.
BUT!
The flavor of Cuban cigars is unmatched by anything else in the cigar world.
Of course that is just my opinion!

ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a damn fine cigar - the age has really opened up the complexity.
Fairly strong so an after dinner smoke is a good idea.
I had one today at the Blue Berry farm - went picking.
Can't keep my hands off that box :( almost all gone.
Looking forward to hearing what you thought of it!

Great post Macallan. As for CC's blueberry farm, . . .

I'LL BE RIGHT OVER!!!!!!! Save three bushels for me.
