Show us your pets!

Those are huskies The Colonel has? Look more like malamutes to me. I know I'm splitting hairs, but they're a bit more "wolfy" looking and somewhat larger than the huskies I'm accustomed to.

My brother has a Malamute - "Yogi"

he's a big boy well over 100 pounds maybe even 120
he is the most gentle animal I have ever seen.
I watched birds land on him and then jump into his food bowl to eat.
Yogi would just lay there and watch them.
The Colonel's dogs are Huskies - very nice pair!
I always liked this breed, but hear they can be very difficult to teach.
Not that my dog does anything I want.
My dog is Snu, Gotti is my wife's dog & rabbit is our dog's dog.
She is dumb as a rock, but sweeter than suger.
My parents used to breed dogs so I was arised with a lot of dogs
& pets for that matter.
I've had a lot of different animals.
Kind of a PITA really, never can go anywhere.
I just rented our guest cottage to some friends - it is nice as they only have to walk 50 feet to let the dogs out.
They have been our dog walkers for eyars, but lived 20 minutes away. I no longer have to pay them to -
It's nice if there out in the yard doing anything they will let the dogs out to play.
OK enough ramble for one morning!

Frankee is an Irish Jack Russell - it's great I have a hyperactive dog to go with my hyperactive kid! She is very cute - but unbelievably dumb (NO COMMENTS, BP!)

No...a Cairn thats demanding? I wouldn't believe it. The girl at work has 6 of them right now, and it is a hoot to watch them chase my dog Cocoa around her yard. I almost think Cocoa is just stubborn enough to be a match for all those other dogs. I will try to post some pics, I am just to busy with our renovation right now.

This is my big dopey, yellow lab. He still thinks that he is a lap dog.

Phish:

I've seen that photo before..but man, it makes me chuckle everytime I see the baby getting that big lick! That is a great photo!

Actually my wife gets the big lick. The baby is about 1 and 1/2 feet away. Daniel, now that he is older and can crawl around on the ground, get the big big lick. He makes this funny face and then smiles after Cody fininshes giving him a tongue bath.

S-10 Maniac, I had a Fox Snake for a year and a half. A very, very rare snake that has almost completely lost its habitat, and one of the most beautiful snakes in the United States, if not the world. It came with a bad, bad case of mites, but was a great feeder despite that. After battling them short of bringing it in for surgery, it succumbed to the effects of internal infestation. Battling them on the outside is one thing, but if they burrow inside and infest a snake to the point of thousands present, it's just about hopeless, even with surgery. I killed thousands in the time I had it, but they were too numerous and well entrenched.

You know something, as I recall, I've never had an issue with mites or parasites with any of the snakes I've had. Must be a regional thing. I had all these snakes while living in Wisconsin.

BTW, my dag

I tell ya Phish, labs are the best. Mine is now 90+ lbs, and he still loves to lay on us!! So gentle with toddlers too.

I don't know if I would say that he is gentle. He is still very hyper and runs around like a bull in a china shop. He would never intentionally hurt any child (unless they are laying on him and won't let him up and pulling on him like my daughter). He loves Daniel. He just doesn't realize tht he is almost stepping on him when Daniel is crawling around on the ground.

Here's one of the little monsters. . . Basil

S-10, you probably get your snakes from better sources than I do. I got my corn snake from a private connection, never a mite, never a problem in it's life. I got the rest of my snakes, including the only one left living, from NYC pet stores. They are pretty much breeding grounds, at least many of them are, for mites on the reptiles they sell. I won't even go into how mad I got, especially at one guy, for his high and mighty, your snake just needs an appetite stimulant, trust me, I know a thing or two about reptiles, blah, blah, attitude story concerning my baby ball python. It was a great feeder, but succumbed to mites after three months. I have fought them successfully with my Burmese Python however, and it is doing quite well right now, at about 9 1/2 years old.

I met a guy at the local Petco who admitted to me that several years ago, when I was getting my bad snakes, that instead of being locally bred, here in the U.S., snakes were actually being brought in from the wild with mites on them, and thereby infesting other reptiles, whole pet stores, etc. That was interesting, and he actually stopped to make time to have a nice, pleasant, comprehensive conversation with me, so I have a tendency to believe that story.

Interestingly enough, speaking of domestic breeding, one of the biggest breeders of exotic reptiles in the country, is none other than U.S. pole vaulter Jeff Hartwig, one of the best in this country's history, although he has a problem winning the big one.

Pets make a life complete...

Our 12-yr old chocolate lab, Mika.

"Spark" is a rescue cat (black & white). "Tiger" is a barn cat. Yeah, right!

"Puff" is a pound cat. She is now an indoors cat.

"Charlie" is our African Grey Parrot. He is 16 years old.

Then, there are the snakes. Here is the setup. Custom Cages sold me the kits. I assembled them. "Hoss" is a red-tail boa. He lives in the bottom cage. "Gomer" is a ball python. He lives in the top left cage. "E.T." is a corn snake that lives in the top right cage.

Here's Hoss. Not a full-body shot, but I like it. Hoss is currently about 8-feet in length.

Here's Gomer. I estimate Gomer to be 9 or 10 years old. I got him when he was less than 6 months old.

Here's E.T. He is also 9-10 years old and about 6 feet long.

Now for the finale, our horses. "Legs" is my wife's Missouri Foxtrotter. This is a picture of him from last winter in the snow.

Here's a picture of "Star" and me. Star is a Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse.

Thanks for the opportunity to gather all my critters together!

Here's my wifes cat, Keko (kaykoh).
I don't really like it that much.....gets in to too many things!

I'm more of a dog man myself. However, we can't have dogs here. We can't have any pets really. It's just that cats are easier to hide!

I used to have 2 American Bulldogs. AWESOME animals!
When I get my own home again I'll have two more!

I caught all my snakes. Only animals I bought were the Tree frogs and Anoles. And to my suprise, these wild animals did Amazing in captivity!
Edit: That cat looks like its wearing BDUs

Great pictures, all. NoBite, if that corn snake is really six feet long, then you have a world record tying corn snake. Corn snakes over five feet just aren't heard of any more.
