Six Gisperts for the cost of shipping

So I'm sitting here, and I see this thread, and it piques my interest. So I go to my wife: "I can get six cigars free for the price of shipping". And she goes: "How much are the one's you have to buy to get these ones free?". (she is a smart woman) So I go "None". And she goes "Sounds like a good deal to me".

So I deferred to her wisdom and ordered them. She is truly a good woman. I couldn't ask for a better wife.

All the best,

Joe

I got mine on Wednesday. They look pretty good. I give them a week in the coolerdor to chill out and then try one.

Damm missed out. It said it expired on March 31st, which usually means you have that day too, but the credit card screen does not work. Oh well.

That's a real bummer RedLeg, I ordered mine at 4AM CT this morning, and it went through.

Actually, RedLeg, I still show that it's working. Try using a different browser, enabilg cookies, or just using a different computer. Or send me your credit card info, and I'll make some wise investments for you...

Sorry... one more post.

The ordering page does come as a pop-up, so make sure you don't have blocking sofware screwing you out of free cigars. Good Luck!

YO SOUP!!! Where'd you get the snake? Isn't the way it's REALLY supposed to look on the original flag?

Uhhhhhhh, not that I've got the original flag here, either. I took it off the AmBack avatar menu. The original flag had 13 stars (for the original 13 colonies) in a circle, and a few stripes. Sorry, I should know this. Yes, I would fail a citizenship test. A friend of mine and I were sitting around trying to name some capitals of states the other day. We were talking about how we'd probably fail a citizenship test if we had to take one.

:cryinlaugh: :rotflmao:  :help: :flush:

You know, I really don't know the detailed history of the flags, but the sentiment is the same either way, and I think they both pay tribute to our heritage.

Did you know that Sam Seaborn, the Whitehouse Assistant Communications Director on the TV show "The West Wing" has your flag hanging behind his desk? That redeemed him a bit for some of his lily politics; he usually is the one to stand up for personal freedoms. Live Free...!

As far as I know (and I could be wrong) these flags were never used as official banners of any government entity. I think that they were used as unofficial battle flags of militia units. If you have better info, please correct me.

Okay, remember I'm a feeble old man with a compromised spine, compromised immune system and as a result, neurosynapses and brain cells suffer from, errrrrr-, partial to complete "blockages."

:cryinlaugh:

I do believe that a certain version of the American flag, using the snake you have on your avatar, along with the "Don't Tread On Me" slogan, was in fact, the first official flag of the country in its infancy. And yes, a Google search would clear up a whole lot. As a matter of fact, I'm going to do one in a little while. I have to go do yard work after that, so I may not get back with a post for a while. I'll be cleaning up my . . .

American Back Yard. :sm_angel:

Amazing what a little googling will do...

Don't Tread On Me Flag.

Description: Believed to be the first flag of the Marines of the Continental Navy. This coiled snake was painted on the drums of early Marines. Copy of Artwork.
Keywords: Revolutionary War

And source two:

"Don't Tread on Me" was an early American flag picturing a rattlesnake and the motto "Dont Tread on Me." On a field of yellow, a rattlesnake is coiled on a patch of green. The rattlesnake was used in early American history as a symbol of resistance against British rule.

This historic US flag is also called the Gadsden flag, named for its designer, Colonel Christopher Gadsden. Gadsden was American patriot from South Carolina who submitted this design to the Provincial Congress in South Carolina. A very similar flag (with a red and white striped background) was flown by Commodore Esek Hopkins on his battleship in 1776, when Hopkins was attacking and capturing British armaments in the Bahamas). This was the beginning of the sea-going American navy and the start of the Corps of Marines. The Marines of the Continental Navy also painted the "Dont Tread on Me" design on their battle drums.

And finally, apparently your flag, known as "The first navy jack" has been ordered to be flown on all naval vessels during the war on terrorism. And so ends my history lesson for the day.

That's great. Thank you. I did get a lesson in "flagology" :cryinlaugh: :sm_angel: :flush: :help: :help: on PM the other day from another member, but didn't have a chance to go to the links and study them in depth yet. Fascinating stuff.

Well done!

I was hoping that someone would find that info.
We learned about this flag in boot camp.
There's more history behind the meaning and design of it as well.

I'd have to dig through my old boot camp study books to find it.
