on the grass
so far today we have had over a foot of snow.

the wife got out of the good ol' nine to five early

time to go sledding!!!

then baily's and hot chocolate
i love snow days

We are still waiting for it to hit - supposed to get between 11 to 18 inches overnight and tomorrow. My kids are psyched - sledding down the hill in the backyard for them - I think I will work from home and go sledding myself.

Snow overnight, rain in the morning. Yeah right, no snow day for me.

My kids had a the first snow day of their lives on January 7, this year.

Enjoy it Kev and Company, you may never see one again!!

Kev,
Aren't there any safety issues with you sledding???

You'll be moving VERY fast towards the bottom of the hill, "aerodynamics" being what it is on that dome of yours....

Maybe you can wear a spolier shaped hat to provide downforce at least....WWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHH

my mom is in akron for work right now and i called her only to have her tell me she couldn't talk because she was driving through a blizzard. I laughed and said ok. Neither of us are fans of snow, which would be why we moved from ohio to the south. She is used to Palm Beach Florida weather, shes not happy about being in ohio haha

I think over the past day we've only had about 5-6 inches but the plows haven't been out as much as needed and the wind has been so strong that the snow we've gotten previously is moving into big drifts everywhere.

I don't really mind the snow but I had to work delivering tonight. I can't wait to stop driving and be inside more. The money is nice but people just don't know how to drive. You would think that living here all your life (as most have) you would learn that drifting snow doesn't mean you need to go 30 under the speed limit.

UPDATE

another 8 inches over night.

the Wife still has to go to work.
The city is shut down and she has to go in. that sucks.

Its icing right now; not raining, not snowing, but icing right now. The roads suck. Even with 4 wheel drive it doesn't stop you from sliding on ice. Had to drive slow to wokr today. Not fun at all.

It's like sheets of ice coming down right now here too, Dave. I am working from home - and no sledding - darn!!!

Stay safe on the roads!

I can't believe that the office closed. yesterday we were talking about it and all those that were there were saying that they never really close. low and behold.....I got an email at 600am this morning...CLOSED...wow

I feel for you all, it's a balmy 65* here today in Northern Cali. and is expected to be around 74* by friday. Sunny skies and warm, wearing shorts and running the A/C in the work truck. have a nice "SNOW DAY" :duh:

Turned to snow in the afternoon here - only about 5-6 inches overall - enough for the kids to sled down the hill in the backyard.

Plows just came now so I am going to have dinner (we had planned to go out but not in this weather) and head out and clear the ends of the driveway.

They closed Penn State today. [ ... ] And potentially have some dangerous fun in my car and parking lots.
Gotta be careful about that. One of my sons "tried out" a Honda on an empty parking lot after ice & snow ... and slid the car sideways across a curb. Ripped up the undercarriage something awful. Totalled the car ... which was 10 years old anyway.

That was at Virginia Tech. Later he sold insurance ... And now, he and his wife own a vet clinic.

I'm sure that the more mature students and faculty at Penn State would never do anything so careless.

PS - in my four years, the campus was _NEVER_ closed. But we sure mushed through some heavy snow!

If your going to go sledding take my advice and don't go headfirst down strange trails. I did that in my youth and ended up hitting a cement post breaking my collarbone and missing my head by about 3 inches. Or maybe I did hit my head.

Not much snow here but what is on the ground is getting blown so fiercely that it's whiteout conditions again. Fun times.

last night when I left the office my cherokee was covered in an inch of ice. The rain fell from the sky, and frozen on the ground. It took me half an hour to just warm up the car enogh to start melting it and chipping it off. Not a good time.
