Good morning , it is Sunday May 31,2020 a cool sunny morning here in Da Burgh , started the morning with a Monte Churchill with coffee after a breakfast of Oatmeal

Yesterday was a busy day here WE washed all the windows in side and out , wow its BRIGHT in here now

I have 2 small racks of baby back ribs enjoying a smoke bath , Corn on the cob will go on later today .
I'm in the Qtr.Deck this morning its just a bit windy to sit on the back deck and its only 58F with a high of 62 today , just a bit on the cool side


I hate what is going on in the country right now , the looting and Burning is NOT a way to protest , the Cops should be held accountable .
with the high amount of stress from the national shutdown has a lot of people on edge to begine with and this just put it over the top

Good evening it is Tuesday june 9,2020 a scorching hot day here in Da Burgh , I was busy all weekend with yard work and a new roof , I spent all day resting yesterday , I AM TO OLD for this shit, Thank God I go back to work on Tuesday next week. , right now Im sitting in the Qtr.Deck , A/C has been on since 1 PM , Im on my third cigar of the day , a monte toro with a glass of lime aid and a weee bit of Jose Cravo Gold to help ease the pain , my home isnt all that big, 48 x24 ranch but with 2 bathrooms 4 sky lights , exaust fans and the pipes for the furnace , and hot water I had a TON of cutting and fitting to do , , the North side of the roof is a clean shot , all the vents, fans and sky lights are on the south side of the roof . My Nephue is a roofer in the summer he teaches school most of the year he did most of the work as he knows what he is doing , I got tired watching him and his sons work , and work they did . AMEN Feeding them was EXPENCIVE ,,,, Pizza one day Steak sandwiches the next and hot sausage , BUT I will never worry about tyhe roof the rest of my life 40 year shingles, I will be dead a long time before the warrenty is up hahahahaha
I was on the back deck early today but it was getting to hot with the trees cut down and the sun directly on the awning , it was over 90 F at 1 PM so the a/c went on .
I am realy enjoying the Curavo gold and lime right now !

its going to be hot again tomarrow , but thursday and friday are looking much better , /// dammm I just looked up at the screen, a ton of words are underlined in red , all miss spelled , so what just sound it out youll get the idea hahaha Im way to old to change now
, I did manage to grill some corn on the cob and a few chicken breasts today , we had a watermellon in the fridge all cut and ready to go , that was supper, and thats about it , heading to charbucks about 730 for an espresso and then watch the sun set, with my last cigar of the day Enjoy, Vince

Good afternoon , it is Sunday 6/21/2020 a hot humid Fathers day here in da Burgh . Last week I had nothing to say , today is a different story, a story of life Taken from a Young Man , My Son in Laws youngest son Passed in his sleep this past monday , , just 26 a fun loving beer drinking KID , the family is in disbelief , he fell asleep on a friends couch and never woke up , the toxicolgy report will let us know if it was booze, drugs or natural , it will take a few weeks , he was in good health as far as we know , if he had any medical problems he never told anyone , he worked as a bartender right around the corner from his home , always polite to us and enjoyed a prank when he could , he was no saint , just a 26 year old kid , liked a beer after work or 3 , didnt drink on the job that I ever saw .... he was just 8 when his father married my daughter and they were best of friends , he was welcomed to the family along with his older sister , I dont talk much about them as they are not part of my life , they have a life of their own , we see them at Christmas , and all the family gatherings , he didnt visit like the grandsons do. & I understand , he has a life of his own and hanging out with a step grandfather is not high on any ones list . He was a lot of fun to hang out with when he did . Darian E. Phillips you will be missed .

Good morning , it is Sunday Aug.2 2020 a warm hazy humid day here in da Burgh. ,,,,, Im still at a loss for words .... all I can say is 2020 Sucks .... , I have stopped working at the parts store , the batterys and brake rotors were starting to get heavy , my back told me enough is enough. , so that gives me more time for cigars and scotch ....

Breakfast this morning was bacon and eggs , with a few hot peppers , the coffee was an African blend of left over beans , not enough of any one to make a pot , I have a pot of Columbian on now , No Kona this week . I will be starting the Cigar day with the BUTT of a Montecristo that I started in the Car last night , but the rains hit so hard I had to pull over , we did loose power at home for a short time , and last night was Cousin Brucys Last saturday night show on XM Radio , My wife and I have been listening to him for the past few years , ever since Garason Kieller stopped doing the Parrie Home Companion on PBS , we enjoyed the 60s on 6 on the XM radio , I have it down loaded in the home computer and we stream it all over the house with our Google personal assistants , so since the weather was not letting us go for our cigar and cofffee saturdat night ride , ,,, The cigar was left in the car and the coffee came in the house and we finished off the evening with THE CUZ.


Sunday Hunk O Beef is in the oven , and there is a Fresh Baked Peach Pie for desert , maybe a slice for lunch hahahaha . Very over cast and humid , looks like rain anytime soon , I better get out to the car and retrive the Monte before I get wet, I will be on the back deck with coffee and a re run of Last nights Final show from the cuz. Good morning , it is Sunday 8/9/20 a hot humid day here in DA BURGH it has been a strange year to say the lest , not much we can do about it , stay safe , dont watch the news , enjoy one day at a time , & thats about all I have been doing , beside trying to stay out of the way when the wife is doing some thing. , my days are spent on the back deck or in the Qtr.Deck when it gets to hot , thanks to a New AC unit there .
Breakfast was a bacon eggs cheese and tomato sandwich on an english muffin with a pot of coffee , and to be honest with you I have no idea what it was , I would ask the wife , but I dont want to bother her , she is cleaning up the kitchen as I type .
I think I will be grilling some rib eyes today along with some summer squash and Yams , going to make everything on the grill
. Yesterday Barb made a Blueberry Cobbler , I think it was great , she thinks she added to many berrys , I say the more berrys the less cobbler, , hahaha , I liked it , and the fruit did help a bit in the constpation dept. , some say I am full of shit and they would be correct hahahaha
I havent had my morning cigar yet and it is closing in on noon, so its off to the shower, get dressed and then have a smoke , Enjoy, Vince
 
Good morning it is Sunday 8/16/2020 a cool humid morning here in da Burgh , Yesterday was Anniv # 50 for the wife and myself , 50 years with the same person , 50 Birthdays, Christmas, Mothers day , Easters New years , seams like the blink of an eye .... Friday was Barbs little Brothers Birthday , he is now 70 , we had a SMALL get together with his 3 sons ,12 grandchildren assorted cousins and inlaws , for the first and most likely the last , no one was in diapers ,,,,,,,
Breakfast this morning was a Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on olive oil bread with fresh just picked tomato coffee was Earthu, a blend of Ethopian and Puru coffees was from the Roaster in New Brighton Pa. Hallowed Grounds .
I am waiting on the Kona and Don Carlos #3 till about Noon today , I have a buddy stopping for a smoke , just got off the phone with him so I will hold off till he gets here ....
Since Yesterday was my 50th anniv. I did smoke a robusto I have had since that Fatefull day back in 1970 a 50 year old monte Robusto , it has been moved , so many times from humidor to humidor , burried with Cubans , Opus, Padrons, , Zinos and a lot of junk cigars over the years , I still have 2 more left, , both the same , a corona size but the bands are long lost , I dont remember what they are , one for each of the grandsons weddings if they ever do get married, If im still alive , hahahahahaha
I have a pair of Rib steaks to go on the grill later with a lot of FRESH garden Veggies , everything will be made outside today , ,,,,, to nice to stay inside . Im going to get dressed soon and maybe a quick walk around the block , or maybe just around the yard , yea thats more like it , 2 laps around the house , then drop into a chair on the back deck and listen to some music or an old CAR TALK podcast

Good morning , it is Sunday 8/23/2020 a humid but cool morning here in da Burgh ,,,,,, as the lock down of the bars and resturaunts is on going I am finding it hard to take the wife out to eat , I am getting tired of my cooking , all be it top notch , but I am just burning out a bit and want to let some one else cook for me , NO not her , I worry about her cutting her self as she isnt a person with the greatest knife skills , even after 50 years of wedded bliss hahaha I just cant watch her cut up anything .... her kitchen dutys are very limited when I am here , coffee, toast and anything else I do the prep work, , we had Macaroni salad yesterday , I cut up all the veggies and the hard boiled eggs for her ,,, just to be safe.... Sure she can do it , but I would rather set my cigar in the ashtray , and cut up the stuff rather than put down my cigar and put a band-aid on her .
Breakfast was a Hot pepper cheese omelet with a pot of Ethopian coffee 50/50 with Purivuian coffee
and of course the HUNK O BEEF is in the oven ,,,,,, GOD LOVE HER , happy wife , happy life ... a small price to pay but it is putting hand cuffs on my Culinary expressions .

I will be heading to the back deck soon with a Bahia Gold Corona and a pot of coffee, I dont know what I will be making , I forgot the Kona last night , I love doing it as a cold brew , But what ever it is now will be in the drip pot , there are a few to choose from , I think about 5 different coffees out there as well as the Kureug with about 10 different coffees and the Nespresso has about 6 different offerings ,,,, yes we do love our Coffee here .
its almost noon and I havent got dressed yet, sitting here in my sleep Shorts and slippers , so its time to get my ass in gear and get started.

Good morning it is Sunday 8/30/2020 a cool overcast day here in da Burgh , the past few days have be strange to say the lest , from 90+ days to High winds and heavy rain , not as bad as the storms on the gulf coast , but here in the hills and valleys of the Pittsburgh area , it is strange to get such powerful straight line winds , we get an occasional tornado but nothing like the ones we saw on storm chasers , strange it has been .
So far I have yet to know anyone with the covid bug , we thought the wife had it back when this all started , she was tested but was negative, she was sick about 2 weeks , I did have a bit of discomfort a few days but nothing stopped me from cigars and scotch. I have been getting together for cigars with my friends the entire time of the lock down and no one has shown any signs of sickness, welll a little mental instability but thats normial hahahaha .......
Breakfast this morning was a bit of caso fresco , pressed then grilled with bacon and eggs, a few grape tomatoes the coffee was an unknown bag of fresh ground beans the wife picked up when we got our last order of whole bean coffee from Hallowed grounds in New Brighton Pa . I liked it , didnt ask what it was , but I have a pot of the Columbian ready for todays first cigar , a Bughetti ( like the car, cant spell it ) yes there are a lot of things I cant spell or type correctly , but this isnt a news paper of a term paper , so sound it out you will get the idea.
I went to the VA on friday for a hearing test , I have been turning up the TV and radio and not hearing the wife when she talks , so I got checked, shows some loss of hearing in the audible range , but boarder line for hearing aids , so I will get rechecked in a year and see how it is then. AHHHHHH old age hahahaha
there is a rack of ribs ready to go on the grill later today , yams and summer squash all done on the grill , right now its only 68 F with a strong NW wind , so I will be waiting a bit before the cigar and coffee on the back deck.

Good afternoon it is Sunday 9/6/20 a sunny but cool day here in da Burgh just 77F with a north wind , great for sitting on the deck with a cigar and coffee , AND thats what I have been doing all day , Breakfast was a egg bacon and tomato sandwich on a whole wheat cressent roll with swiss cheese , and a pot of Columbian coffee, I was so full after eating I didnt think about posting this morning , , skipped lunch and sat back waiting for the stuffed peppers for supper ,,,,,, they were GREAT , I didnt need to lift a finger as the wife did it all .... so I am getting ready to go back out for a second round of coffee and cigars . not much going on here , just great weather and lots of cigars .

Good evening it is Sunday 9/13/2020 a cool overcast day here in da Burgh , a BUSY day , Grandparents day the oldest grandson was here for supper the younger one had to work , and since today is Sunday he was stuck eating the pot roast , no vegan meals here , eat or go hungry, well he ate , and ate and ate , , I knew he would go for all the veggies so I made extra, but he hit the beef like a PRO. , he did save a bit of room for the peanut butter pie with a crust made for crushed oreiros. . it was great to see him for a change , he is always BUSY ....
Breakfast was bacon eggs and caso fresco , coffee was a pot of 50% purivan and 50% ethopian , and the morning cigar was not a cigar ,,,, it was a pipe of English luxury , some times a change is great.
after lunch I did fire up a Cain F toro with more coffee , after supper the air got cool and I was in shorts and a T shirt , it was chilly on the back deck so no evening cigar , I could have gone to the Qtr.Deck but just to lazy to open it up for the evening , I need to get out there and clean it a bit , the ashtrys did get power washed in the spring , and I was going to clean the place last summer , and didnt , had an idea to clean it this summer ........ still not done hahaha , maybe this week hahahaha , lets see , Doctor on Monday , the boss wants to go to the Hardware store on Tuesday to pick up some Holiday decorations , Wendsday is Payday and Grocery shopping , so that leaves Thursday ....... Hummmm I hope some thing comes up hahahaha , OH yes , Doug is home from his vacation, ..... cigars at Dougs , and we are up to friday....... I need to cook on friday , Fish Fry .... Saturday it might rain . cant do it on Sunday , dammmm maybe its time to call for Maid service hahahahaha

looks like I need to get to work and figure out something before it gets cold outside and get it done .
