"Sweet Spot" of cigars?

I have a real simple way to know exactlyu when to stop smoking it; its when I stop enjoying it. It may be because my fingers are burnign, or starts to get hot, or I just get kinda bored and want something new.

Ditto here.

Count me among the inconsistant.

I lean toward robusto's because the length is usually right for my smoking time. Sometimes, if it's a good stick and burning well, the band comes off and it's down to the nub. And its the burn that often dictates when I let it go. And no matter how good it tastes, there are only so many times I can relight a smoke before I'm annoyed

I usually burn most of my cigars down to the nub, though I seem to like them best when there are 1-3" or so left. They're not quite as good for that last little bit, but still worth smoking until they get too hot to handle most of the time. I don't bother with toothpicks, etc. though.

Bingo!! I hate to relight a bunch, it takes away from the experience
and taste

I'll admit I am a "halfer" guy a bunch of the times, I notice an off taste (almost like menthol, weird...) when I start getting close to the band.

I rarely smoke now a days, which is what normally happens because of school but today I am looking to change that, just finished finals, I'll be trying to smoke down to the nub today.

After one cigar that came unwrapped because of a liberal amount of vegetable glue I quit unbanding my cigars. It still irks me when a great cigar comes to an end because the glue never heated enough for the band to come off cleanly. Pet peeve #2: Bands on the foot of cigars, it's pretty to look at but why potentially screw up the beginning of the cigar due to a poorly applied band.

End of rant, LOL. 8)

Me too Cloudy. Seems every time I tried to take the band off before lighting I tore the wrapper. Now I smoke it until the band gets warm and comes off easily. Nothing ticks me off more than when a cigar wants to come unwrapped while I'm smoking it, especially if it's my own fault for messing up the wrapper.

Haven't smoked in a while, about a month or two. This past Saturday, I went to my shop, sat down and smoked down a big churchill of there house blend (Gloucester St. Cigar Co, in Boston, AWESOME house cigar) down to the nub, and a Cusano 18 to the last inch. All while watching the Red Sox kick some butt.

My mind has changed about smokin to the nub,
John

i never slide the band off. i always peel it from itself first. im very careful. i cant think of the last time i had a problem

Same here. But even that can be easier if it's warmed up first.

Peel as carefully as you want. If you have a cigar band with enough glue on it it's going to damage the wrapper anyways. Thats what I was getting at, enough glue that it seeps onto the actual wrapper thereby attaching itself. Personally I like the laser etched logo that the OMB1's have. No wrapper issues and it looks way cooler than some poorly designed band.
