I woke up this morning and had someone fishing in my backyard.
This Eagle is sitting on a tree stump not 30 feet from my house.
The tree stump is right in the middle of our river.
I guessing there are some Big Brown Trout out there right now!

I always feel honored when I can observe an eagle. I can recount every encounter that I've had with Bald Eagles. We don't get too many here in SW PA.
I did have an encounter at Raccoon Lake in Beaver County many years ago when an immature bald eagle took a rainbow out of the lake and the water from the fish was falling on me as he flew over my head. What a sight!
Nice Pics!

CC, that camera takes great pics, huh! Great picture.
So maybe a "Cast and Blast" is in order soon?

If I was feeling better we'd already have done the "C & B"
Maybe next year~!

Just like in all the books when I was a kid. Beautiful.

We've actually got a growing population of bald eagles in The Hudson Valley, including a nesting pair at New Hamburg station, where I wait for the train. I've never actually seen them, but the bad eagles in the area have made the papers a number of times. They have made a huge comeback in this area and others in the country. What an incredible opportunity, to see these magnificent birds in the wild.

Thanks for the pictures, a real privilege to see them.

What an incredible sight!!!
Thanks for sharing CC :D :D :D

Hey Conversecricket---
Check out the bluffs above the Alton Dam on the Muddy Mississippi. I think that Pierre Marquette State Park has a Eagle watch program

That's really cool. Closest we get around here are some giant hawks and whooping cranes.

We have a Great Blue Herion (sp?) that loves to eat the gold fish in our pond. He/she stands in the river fishing all the time.
Giant wing span! Maybe 5 or 6 feet -
I want a new lens for my camera to take pictures of the birds.
Some are very hard to get close too. I'm thinking 1000 mm lens would be perfect - It would go in my hunting stand (3rd bedroom down the hall)
I wish I could smoke cigars up there!
I hang out for hours & take pictures while surfing.

Those are beautiful pics CC, well done. The only bald eagle I have ever seen was at a bird sanctuary near my house. Rescued and fixed up and unable to be released due to a broken wing, even in an enclosure that bird looked majestic.

Only thing I really see around here is turkey vultures, hawks, herons, and the pack of wild turkeys that roam behind my workplace. Once in a great while I see a falcon by the airport, a guy I used to work with has a contract with the airport to take his falcons out as runway clearance birds.

CC, for a quality telephoto lens between a 300-800mm, you are gonna spend between 2000-10,000 dollars. Some of the lenses the pros use at football games are 600-800mm, and those go for almost 10K!
