People are too touchy these days. I'm lucky enough to encounter people that actually stop and talk to me about the cigars I smoke, even having the courage to ask to try one of my cigars. I fear the day when those kind of people die out. I weep for the future.
Yeah, I never understood that either (the neighbor on the other side of me suggested he was part Bloodhound). But I think it was because he was one of those cigarette-smoking / anti-cigar d***heads that feel it is their duty to wield some kind of authority over us. Oh well, wasn't gonna happen that day!
Woah! Wait a second! He's a cogarette smoker?! And he asked you to stop smoking your cigar in your own back yard? Just verifying that I read that correctly.
Cigarette people piss the hell out of me...especially in those kind of situations....I cant' understand how they are even able to smell the cigar with all the cigarette smoke...I guess they aren't used to smell of burning tobacco....
I was recently told I couldn't smoke cigars in a favorite local hangout of mine, because too many people were complaining about cigars. Me and my buddies are the only cigar people who go in the place....oh well. It does bother me when the guy says "Sorry guys, no Cigars til the kitchen closes." Then procedes to light a cigarette to join the other fifty cigarette smokers.
It should be all or nothing. I hate the smell of cigarettes when I eat, we should all have to suffer for the ten minutes it takes to scarf the food down...If it's a smoking place, there shouldn't be any exceptions. This is a touchy subject, out here everyplace is cigarette friendly and those are the first people to complain about cigars.
I always like to say... "I won't put my cigar out, it's hard to breathe with all the cigarette smoke in here, this is my oxygen..."
The trick is to smoke small cigars. By the time someone realises that is not a cigarette you are smoking its done. I believe there is a lot of psychology behind this hate of smoking -- both cigarettes and cigars. The site of the cigar triggers negative thoughts. Its not a problem with the actual smell.
Here is my take on the situation.
#1 If you are smoking outside there should be absolutely no limitations -- don't tell me that one cigar is worse than a million car exhaust pipes.
#2 If someone tells you that you can smoke then they shouldn't reverse the decision. If one employee tells you that you can smoke and then the manager tells you that you can't its their problem -- not yours.
#3. Its should never be illegal unless their is some proximity to young children (possible asthma, lung problems due to developement.) I'm not sure if this is scientific, but I do think it is in poor taste.
EDIT
** someone pointed out that I said "cigar exhaust pipes" I meant car not cigar
