Howdy Folks,
Been really busy - & did something a little crazy.
Last weekend was our big 4th of July party (every year we have one)
this year was a July 3rd party.
We did Surf & Chirp.
Crabs (Blue crabs) Steamed Clams & Chicken.
Well friday afternoon I head tot he store to buy Chickens.
I stop at a yard sale & there are 3 tables filled with BEAUTIFUL Glass.
All kinds of stuff - Canlde Sticks, Pitchers, Vases, Glasses - & on.
I pick up 2 pieces I think Misa will like and the guys says $5.
I start grabbing stuff - this ones $5 that one is $10 - I'm thinking the $5 piece is worth 5x that and ask the guy what he wants for everything?????????????????
He says everything is more than what is on the table.
We are standing at his Mom's house that had just passed & she collected glass her whole life.
I ask if I can see the whole collection.
Well this house is packed full of glass - glass in every color.
There is 1000 pieces stuffed into every corner, table, shelf, bed & piles on the floor.
I'm thinking damn this is a lot of money.
I ask to buy everything - thinking there is money to be made!
Long story short the next morning buy 1000 pieces of glass - & head home to prepare for our party.
I just spent 4 days wrapping, packing & moving this stuff.
Tonight I start to photograph everything -
I have a big auction house in NY wanting to sell mit for me as well as the largest collector of Viking glass interested as well.
I'm sure I have doubled my money if not 5-10 times over.
I also understand why the son w=didn't want to deal with this -
he knows he gave me a good deal, but needs to sell the house & had his hands full doing other things.
Here are a few bad pictures of some stuff I pulled out for Misa.
Not the the best of what was there, just in a color she Loves.
So with the river project, My Mom visited for a week, a BIG Party & this Glass thing going on I have had little time for anything -
Like my real job!
Just wanted to stop in and say hello - I have read a little, but
my time is very limited these days.
