I am a lover of EVERY type of music. I have listened to classical, country, rap, rock, classic rock.... you name it i have probably listened to it at some point.
I am looking for some new bands/artists that i have no heard before. Right now i am listening to the new Coldplay cd a lot. Also listening to some Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson, Audioslave, System of a down.

Anyone have something they love that i should check out??

Listening to Klaatu as I type... kind of liked the hick-hop I've heard on Imus lately (Cowboy Troy playing "chicken with a train").
Other than that, in the last few months: Steely Dan, Stevie Ray, David Lindley, AC\DC, Eagles, Marty Robbins, Zappa, Muddy Waters, Zevon, Charlie Daniels.

RIght now I'm feeling Beatles and Johnny Cash. I dunno it must be one of those phases.

Well bildo, once again we have something in common! My current playlist would make one think I have multiple personalities or something!! Anyway, Mudavayne's new album, Metallica and justice for all, Killswitch engage all of them, Heart greatest hits, Billy Joel greatest hits, Prince the A sides and the B sides, Ray Charles Genius loves company, The Beach Boys, Beethoven, Rivali... Much more, but that's what I'm jammin to currently.

right now im really into aborted, nile, deicide, the bezerker, six feet under, anata...
this is the really brutal stuff
i finally got a cd player in my truck, now i love to drive it

Told ya I can keep ya guessin! I'm a drummer so, I live by the philosophy that you cannot truely be a musician unless you can at least appreciate all forms of music. For myself, I try and find one thing that I like about everything and then I try to let it influence my style of playing. I take allot of tribal influence from african and South american drum music, rythyms and so fourth, clasical gives you a sense of drama. Things can start of quiet and then grow and peak, they do not have to reamain the same volume, the music takes you through a journey, peaks, and then brings you down softly. I love metal, weened and cut my teeth on the old school, Testament,Slayer, Overkill, SOD, Anthrax, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Corrosion of Conformity, Sabbath, those guys. I took so much from this genera I can't begin to list. I could go on and on, music isn't juat a passion for me, it's what has kept me allive, out of jail, and in many cases even keeled through my life. I can definately influence my mood by the track thats playing, and if I were to ever write a biography, it would have no words, just music because that is the way I remember my life. I remeber the first cigar I smoke was a Swisher sweet in like a petite corona, I was going fishing with my dad, and we were listening to "sitting on the dock of a bay" by Otis Redding. Good times...

At Wrok I tend to listen to the Gipsy Kings, Sinatra and other Classical music...

I like Common, White Stripes, Black Crowes....hell, I like all kinds but those are a few of my favorites!

i have a sinatra cd in my car and a gypsy kings cd at home, i need to throw it in my car again because i can really rock out to the kings.

i forgot to add, new foo fighters is coming out and i love the foo fighters. A great roomate of mine once taught me that when foo fighters play its time to rock out with your c*$k out! I watched the mtv movie awards last night just to see their performance. Can't wait.

I love dave matthews and sinatra. But system of a down is playing in while i type so as you can see i love it all.

Every post here has hit on something that I listen to, with the exception of country (never could or will get into that). Don't listen to much current rap, but my iPod has a ton of old school.
Paul, being a guitarist since the age of 11, I'm right there with you on the older metal / thrash. One of the sickest concerts I went to besides Monsters of Rock or Woodstock '99 was Testament - Megadeth - Judas Priest...I lost my shirt (literally) and was in pain for a week after that one!
I always have Sinatra in my cd player (what can I say, he's a paisano :) ), and I'm thinking of going out to get the new Paul Anka cd...He took modern songs and redid them in the swing format...sounds pretty good.

i love going into a dream world listening to sinatra and smoking a cigar... i feel like im part of the Rat Pack back in the day.

I'm partial to Jimmy Buffett myself. I like a lot of what the stations call classic rock now. Wasn't "classic" when I liked it a while back. Eagles are another top choice. I can listen to Japanese drums with no trouble at all.

I liked the soundtracks from movies like Quigley Down Under and Master and Commander.

the eagles talk reminded me of the hell freezes over dvd i have. When i was selling home theater stuff i used to use the bonus track on it to demonstrate. If you play the seven bridges road track on that dvd (in dolby 5.1 only) walk around to each speaker and you will hear a different voice from each. Awesome demonstration that made me a lot of money at them time.

Right now I'm listening to Johnny Cash Live at Folsom and San Quentin, a generic opera sampler, and a Clifford Brown box set. I like many of you listen to everything including rap and country. But the only music I'll pay to see in person is jazz. Well I guess I have to take my "listen to everything" back, I hate gutless  smooth jazz and :bigpuke: world music.

Have been listening to allot of Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, and Herbie Hancock lately....oh, and Joshua Redman too.

My two favorite musics are Speed Metal / Thrash and Jazz.

I'm a big Miles fan. Trane, Dizzy, Bird. I like the brazillian stuff too (not to be mistaken for brazilia) ;-) Chick Corea, John Pattitucci, Jobim. (I was a Jazz performance major in college and played professionally once upon a time).

But I still like to dig into the heavy rythmic distortion, from time to time. Megadeth, Fates Warning, Testament, Old Metallica (in the Cliff Burton days) ...

my tastes are also pretty varied - the music i grew up to and play most to this day is HipHop although I am really REALLY into Johnny Cash, Elvis, Bob Marley, The Specials, The Clash, actually this list could go on forever - what does everyone like to lestien to whilst smoking ?

My playlist jumps all over the place from soft rock to classical to jazz to some oldies.

Currently I have Jim Croce on my playlist but my gf just got me some indie rock so I'm going to check that out soon.
