What Smokes Did You Buy Today?

I ordered a 3 pack of the Tatuaje Blacks from a guy on Cigarlive who was lucky enough to get a jar. I paid a little more than I would have getting them at the B&M, but they've been delayed a bit from getting in there and it'll only be a couple of jars when they do come in. I can't wait to give these cigars a try. I've heard very good things.

I just pulled the trigger on a box of Monte #4s and a 5er of Trini Reyes....lookin forward to them getting here!

I picked up some Tatuaje Blacks today at the B&M. They got three jars (57 cigars). They put them on sale at 9:00 am. They were gone by 2.

I got a box of Arturo Fuente Cuban Belicosos on Cigar Monster today. I got 'em before bed, thankfully, because when I checked it this morning, it was sold out. Crazy.

I just went a bit overboard. My wife said to get some stix for fathers day and I waited till I saw what I wanted. Ended up with...

Finally, after looking around for quite a while, I found some smokes with a candela wrapper where I didn't have to buy a full box just to see if I liked 'em. They came today and I can't wait to try 'em out.

They're Don Tomas Candelas. I'm not familiar with the brand but CigarCyclopedia seems to think they're ok. I got 2 each of the robustos, lonsdales, and churchills.

My better half and I will be travelling with our travel trailer this coming week so I'll have plenty of time to check their taste. The doofus I spoke to at the Thompson Cigar store in Tampa when I was there said candela was an 'acquired taste' and that I probably wouldn't like them. My guess is that he'd never tasted one himself and was just trying to discourage me from trying them since they weren't something he had in his store.

Don't know whether this is the proper thread but, along the lines of buying smokes, has anyone had any experience with the smokes referred to as "JR Alternatives" sold by JR Cigars?

Just curious to know if they're a worthwhile buy.

Thanks,

Marty

I did buy a bundle one time. Just a so so smoke that I would have doing yard work. After they sat for awhile though the would unravel while smoking. I haven't got any since, I just don't smoke such a volume of stix that I need super cheap smokes.

That's a good point.

Another question: Any of you guys have any opinions regarding Indian Tabac cigars? I keep seeing them pop up on various websites but I don't know a thing about 'em. For example, Cigar Monster has a special on 'em today - - Indian Tabac Super Fuerte robustos. The price sounds good but I don't know if they're a worthwhile smoke.

Input from anyone who's tried the brand would be gratefully received.

Hey Marty, the IT Super Fuerte Maduro belicoso is a great smoke. I bought a five pack of the IT cameroon legends. They are decent but I love cameroons and these weren't all that great compared to AF and others.

Thanks, Dustin. Here's a question aimed at anyone who's ever smoked one - - When you refer to a "Tat black" I'm assuming it's a Tatuaje but which one? I've found 28 different ones, they all seem to have a corojo wrapper, but nothing in their name indicates 'black' to me. Is it maybe the color of the label? Or what?

Thanks for your help,

Marty

I picked up a 5 pack of RyJ Belicosas from Cigarbid....could not help myself. I had to put the bid in and shut it down before my eyes started wandering.

Had my first experience with a b&m cigar store the other day. The nearest one's about 50 miles away so I don't get up there very often.

Anyway, after having a look at their store and being somewhat disappointed with its smallness and not-overly-abundant inventory, I felt like I ought to buy one or two 'just because' so I did.

When I got 'em home and took them out of their cello I noticed that one of 'em had a beetle hole in it along with small spots of mold here and there. I wasn't too worried about the mold but I figured the store would appreciate knowing they had beetles so I called them and told them.

They thanked me and said they'd send me a freebie for letting them know. I somehow doubted I'd ever see the freebie but, lo and behold, it showed up today. Guess I ought to have more faith in mankind.

The moral is that I naturally assumed that b&m cigar stores would have a means in place to assure themselves that they wouldn't get infestations such as beetles in their inventory. I learned a lesson.

Picked up a 5-pack each of Tierra Del Sol coronas by Perdomo and Victor Sinclair Primeros robustos. Got 'em on that evil site.

Still shopping around trying to find one or two I like well enough for everyday smokes.

I didn't buy these - - I was gifted with them yesterday. I have previously tried a couple of them but have been looking forward to trying most of the rest:

1 - CAO Gold Brazilia - 7 1/2 x 56 maduro ( a BIG puppy)
1 - Gurkha Legend Vulcan - 7 1/2 x 52 (almost as big)
1 - Macanudo Portofino - 7 x 34
1 - Arturo Fuented Gran Reserva - 6 3/4 x 44
1 - Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 - 6 1/2 x 50
1 - CAO Brazilia - 6 1/2 x 50 maduro
1 - Punch Toro - 6 1/8 x 50
1 - Hoyo de Monterey - 6 1/8 x 50
1 - Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 - 6 1/2 x 46
1 - Black Pearl Toro - 6 x 50
1 - Padron Corona - 5 1/2 x 42
1 - Partagas 1845 - 5 1/2 x 46
1 - La Gloria cubana - 5 x 46

While I'm very grateful for the gift, the problem with buying samplers chosen by someone other than ones self is that it's sometimes quite difficult to figure out just what it is that you have. The CigarCyclopedia is quite helpful but can't (and doesn't) identify each and every cigar on the market.

Nevertheless, I look forward to lighting up each one, all in due time.
