What's Your Profession?

I was also lucky enough to be a combat engineer in the US ARMY. Too bad there isn't a lot of legitimate demand in the civilian world for people to blow stuff up.

I used to do just that, couple of decades ago. Worked for an oil-service company in Houston, in research. My job was to fabricate then test-fire shaped charges, which are used in oilwell completions work. Drill string down the hole, needs a hole in it, best way is to push air through it at a gazillion psi, then the oil flows out of the surrounding rock. We used RDX, HMX and plastique with copper/lead conical linings. Did a bit of research into parabolic linings, based on info from Los Alamos labs. Never got anywhere with that, as it turns out their test shots were done in the wrong media. Gummint. feh

Spent six years doing that. Never lost any body parts, but a couple of other guys did. Nowadays I sit behind a desk and explain things to people on the phone. All in all, I prefer the desk :)

I am an Executive Chef. I work in catering. We do the high end stuff and around 700 parties per year. The better the company does, the better cigars I smoke. Of course smoking is not allowed but we do find times at the end of 16 hour days where we will be trying unwind. We crack open a few beers and fire up a cigar. I really like waiting all day and looking forward to getting home and smoking at my own pace. Gives ya something to hold on to....LOL

I'm a senior chief in the U.S. Navy. Journalist/Public affairs specialist by trade.

I am a Computer Networking Engineer and Programmer at an IT firm in Michigan. The atmosphere here is very "work hard/play hard". Though I work long hours, there are many perks. We have a pool table, air hockey table, music recording studio and we are in construction for our shooting range (so far, the bosses haven't ok'd the walkin humidor, but I'm still trying :D ).

In our "rec" area, smoking is allowed. Usually every Friday we all stay after work and enjoy a few games of pool. Thats when I like to smoke a good cigar and have a few fingers of Dewars. Though, my coworkers don't obsess over cigars the way that I do, occasionally one will ask, and I'm always happy to share one of my own.

I work at a Childrens Hospital for a university doing research sleep studies on kids,,,I smoke 1-2 sticks a day, from $1.50 - $5.00. I have a 40ct hummi that i try to keep stocked$$$$$$
