When did you start smoking Cigars?

I get up & walk every morning, with a cigar & a big mug of coffee, rain or shine, show or sleet, some mornings it is a Double Corona , some mornings it is a Pitite corona, most of the time it is a Don Carlos III (Corona) 7 days a week, 365 days a year., last fall when I was in the hospital with a buch of tubes & drains running in & out of me , I did my lap of the floor, well almost a full lap ! ( I would have made the full lap but they didnt let me have my coffee & cigar ) hahahahahahahahaha
I dont go fast & I dont go to far most of the time, how ever long it takes to finish the cigar , some times I come back home for more coffee & go back out again, if the cigar has more than an inch to go !
Enjoy, Vince

I have been a tobacco addict all of my life. I was smoking cigars at 11 years old and I used the fishing excuse (keep bugs away) to cover up cigarette smoking. I dipped/chewed/smoked sometimes all at once. I quit dip and cigs using cigars. At first I was still inhaling cigars and then I beefed up the stogies so I wouldnt inhale.
I have been smoking premium cigars for 13 or so years, but every year it gets better and every year my tastes vary a little. I was given my first "expensive" cigar by a very good friend and I owe him a punch in the ribs. :p
Now I smoke premium cigars for a living.
Aint life grand? 8)

I started in November of 05. My brother in law gifted me a nice sampler and it's been a serious joy ride since then!

I smoked cigs for 20 years and quit,,,then picked up smoking Backwoods black and sweet's, 3 years ago,,,,(dunno what i was thinkin  )
then 2 years ago my girlfriend (i think she felt sorry for me) bought me a mixed sampler box (for my b-day) with Arturo Fuentes and some Punch's in it, and a few other handmades,,,,,the rest is history!! :D

now I have 2 humidors that i try keeping stocked (no luck) and smoke about 2 a day average

You are living the life buddy...7 cigars in a day. Life is way to short to not spend the majority of your life doing something you love. Might I ask what your personal best for number of cigars in a day might be?

Last year on the cigar crawl I think I had 15 , but they were mostly coronas & short storys , I dont go for quanity I go for Quality , I like Big Cigars most of the time, 8.5 x 52 , I can get a few hours out of one of them most of the time, that will cut down on the number , but I have a cigar in my hand most of the day , I do stop to eat & go to the bathroom, if I am at home , but if I am on the road , well if I can take the cigar in the bathroom ......... & just home I dont start a fire when the gas explodes hahahahaha

As for me, I started ten years ago in the summer of 1996, right before turning 40. There's a really funny story behind my first cigar. It was a short, nice looking robusto from a hole in the wall, hand rolled cigar shop on West 28th Street in NYC's Manhattan. Unbanded, some kind of store blend that my friend loved and used to get for under $3 apiece.

Well, I took that cigar, and at the time, I literally knew NOTHING about smoking cigars, except that I liked the smell, and had a life long curiosity. I also knew that they had to be better for you than cigarettes, no matter what anyone said.

So, I took that cigar and smoked a little. Well, I didn't know anything at the time, and over a period of two weeks, in four sittings, I was able to finish the cigar.

:cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Trust me, I learned quick, and I never did that again. Even my friend laughed. I knew right then and there, I had to go to cigar school. I did, I learned, and I never pick up a cigar if it's been out for more than an hour and a half, although that never happens anymore. If I don't have the time, I don't smoke the thing. :sm_angel:

I started smoking back in '76. The president of my Board of Directors gave me a box of Antony y Cleopata's, long before the cigar boom and the days of boutique cigars.

Happy 30th Anniversary, Bill!!! :D A Bicentennial cigar smoker. Bahstinbill, ever the Boston Patriot.

I started in 1995, a group of friends and me would go out for dinner and drinks at a place that had a beer club and a walk in humidor in the back, at that time I was pretty ignorant and would just smoke whatever was placed in front of me. I stopped smoking them after a while and just started back up in June 2005. Funny thing is that that old restaurant was sold and the humidor removed but the owner started a tobacco shop and now I stop in there 3-4 times a week.

Usually I will smoke 1-2 a day and maybe 3-4 on the weekends, usually one at around noon and another late night on weekdays and weekends whenever I feel like having one.

Hijacking my own thread!

I leave tmrw for texas, won't be around here much, if at all! I'll be back July 16, take it easy. I'm bringin some smokes, but only 10....Hope I can make that last 6 weeks. Cya!

My story is exactly the same. Started smoking cigars with the birth of my 1st child 2 1/2. My brother bought me a box of Helix cigars to hand out to everyone. That was the beginning of the end. Now I think I am spending to much money on this hobby. It is getting a little out of control.

Started smoking cigars a long time ago. Mostly cheap stuff and macadoodo's. I really started smoking back in August of 2005. I bought a box of hand rolled long filler domincan cigars to celebreate the birth of my son. I really liked them a lot and decided to try more stuff. I never looked back after that.

I was 17 and in college when I had my first cigar. There was an older guy in my dorm who smoked a pipe, and he got me started on pipe smoking. Looking back, neither one of us knew much of anything about cigars. After I'd been smoking a pipe for a while someone gave me a Macanudo Hampton Court. At the time I liked it. Not as well as Black Cavendish, but I liked it. I'd get my hands on a few occasionally- mostly Macanudo Hampton Courts or Ascots and some drug store brand that seemed pretty good at the time though I can't remember what it was. I just know it was a whole lot better than Phillys, Swisher Sweets, or Antonio y Cleopatra Grenadiers. My second year in college I pretty much just smoked a pipe. My roomate didn't smoke, so I'd hang out in front of the dorm with the cigarette smokers. After a while they got used to my pipe smoking & started cracking jokes that I could put something else in there and no one would notice.
My third year in school I met a couple other guys who were into cigars and had a taste for AVO XOs. Man those were good. They're not my favorite anymore, but I still like them. I smoked a few of those that year, along with some stuff I can't quite remember. El Rey Del Mundo seems to ring a bell though. After college I sort of hung up my cutter for a while- seven years or so. I still smoked a cigar occasionally but it wasn't anything regular.
Last December around Christmas time I was about to head home to visit my parents and had planned on stopping along the way at my sister-in-law's parent's place to visit and break up the trip. Just on a whim I figured I'd pick up a couple cigars to smoke with her dad while were were messing with his computer and waiting for her to get off work. Two La Gloria Cubana Series R #7s later and here I am.

I'm a newb to this....smoked my first stick this past FEb. But, I am now hooked for life.... And , yes, I still need another Humidor...LOL. Now that the weather is nice I normally smoke one a day..sitting on the patio in the evening. (Although lately I have taken my pipe back up... really enjoying it)

I have not had a lot of time for posts lately...lots of new faces on here... But I still keep tabs on you guys... Take care and talk at you later!
