Your Best Moment

I thought my Sunday morning smoke was a food forum !

Vince, my Sunday morning smoke is my prayers rising up as insence. :)

Sorry, theological humor.

Don't have my Sunday smoke till after church services are over.

Todd

sorry I dont use insence , covers the aroma of the cigar ! hahaha

Vince, not real incense... my prayers are **AS** incense...

Come on, get it right.

Saw the gravy quote. Do you do a bisquits and gravy - southern breakfast style?

Todd

My sawmill gravy is to DIE for! Ask anyone who has spent time at the Potter household, and they will tell you, my gravy would make a dirty dishrag taste good!

Hey Capt. You willing to give up that recipe or is it a closely guarded family secret? I'm looking for a good one to serve over country fried steak.

Thx

To keep on topic, my best moment was last nite. I was smoking a fake Cohiba that my 19yr old daughter brought back from her trip to Mexico. She got the guy down to $10 from $12 for 2 of them but only had $9 on her, so he took it. (That's my girl, she saved 25% through the old American pasttime of haggling). It wasn't particularly good at all, and in spite of my best efforts I couldn't even finish it. To top it off, I was out on the back patio with the temperature hovering around 115°. Why was it a great moment? Because it was the first cigar my daughter ever bought for me :D

Good post Puff. Yeah i see fathers walking around with he ugliest ties/ shirts/ hats in the world with the biggest smiles. Grabbing everybody by the arm and telling em about it. A gift from a loved one is always beautiful.

And i see we got a new member ( being new myself) who decided to jump right in with a great post. I applaud clap clap clap.

welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay.

PS I'm looking forward to checking out the food forum.

Vince opined: >>> OH yea Biscuits & REDEYE gravy( bacon & coffee) , cream gravy, ( sausage & flour roux with milk)<<<

Here's what the boys and I love.

Biscuits - Betty Crocker cookbook (modified). what ever you do with the recipe, substitute 1/2 whole wheat flour and then double your baking powder so that the heavier flour will rise.

Gravy is done by feel, but it begins with my homemade venison/pork breakfast sausage. I add a few more spice when I make it into "sawmill" gravy. I also use cornstarch instead of flour.

Love a good Beanaise or Hollandaise sauce (depending what I'm making).

From what I can tell, it is suppertime. Go eat! Then, grab a smoke and enjoy your independence.

I did just that , a little pasta & kuban monte #4, washed it down with a cup of Sumatra & weee dram of Old Bushmills !

Coffee... Now that's another topic. Roasted up some Ethiopian Yirgachef to just about 2nd crack. Then a batch of Columbian Peaberry to just after 2nd crack. Great morning cup.

The perfect blend.

You're right, a cup of Sumatra would stand up well to a more stout cigar.

In the evening though, I like a rasberry & cream Dr. Pepper.

Todd

Peaberry is one of my all time favorites, be it Kona or Columbian that little bean is much sweeter than the regular bean, if I can find any I might want to try a JBM peaberry but I dont want to rob a bank to pay for a cup of coffee ! hahaha

Kona is quite expensive... I have a friend of mine bring some Kona back everytime she goes to Hawaii ... It is quite good
