And So Come The Dutchess Country Rains. Along . . .

Yes they are beautiful, as some of the most dangerous creatures are. I'll usually go back with a shovel and move it to the side of the road, but the buzzard looked soooo determined to finish his meal.

montnoir, I'm not sure if it would kill it. I know buzzards don't like to waste anything, but then again I've never seen a dead one around here. Maybe the coyotes get to them first

Yeah, I agree. Diamond backs are magnificent creatures!

Yeah, I'm sure the digestive system of a buzzard is quite hardy - considering they eat dead, rotting animals half the time.

Gila Monsters, Gaboon Vipers, Puff Adders, to name a few more very dangerous, but incredibly beautiful reptiles. Heck, a Coral Snake is beautiful.

Gila monsters was my favorite reptile as a child!

Do you know if they're kept as pets? They seem extremely hardy. I've read that you can fire a round at them and the bullet will bounce right off (kind of like crocodiles) but I'm not sure if those stories were true.

a crocodile can deflect a bullet?????? first time ive heard that.

I don't think Gila Monsters make very good pets. I don't think it's nice to test things on animals either, especially whether or not bullets will bounce off, so I couldn't recommend you trying. Sorry.

:dunno:

haha I'd never do a thing like that, I've just read them in books that featured reptiles

If it was in a book about reptiles, it's probably true. By the way, did they have a picture of the Junior Senator from New York State?

=P sorry, I don't get it.

I just found a breeder who sells gila monsters. They average 1200$ - 1500$ per specimen

Where is this breeder, and how is it they are licensed to sell poisonous reptiles, especially a vicious one that can hang on like a pit bull?

As for the joke, I meant the next President of The DisUnited Snakes of Amerika, who is at the present time the Junior Senator from The Empire State.

For another hint, she is the so-called wife of the 42nd President of this country.

Gentlemen:
You are all my friends. Get your heart out of politics and track the money. Leadership and future presidents are through and by the oil/ global industry. The Clintons still spell oil as all.
Get into this Century. No way someone from Ark. is the man/woman. It's world politics. The next President is already known by the big money boys- we just don't know.

As for that guy selling Gila Monsters, I saw the link, but I've gotta brush up on my reptile market. They are poisonous and can hang on like a pit bull. I've gotta look that stuff up. I'll bet he's being watched. Either that, or somewhere along the line, I got the wrong idea about Gila Monsters. It could be like Manta Rays. They're harmless, but their smaller cousins with the barbs on their tails aren't.

Hitlary. Guaranteed. 58% of the vote in '08. You heard it here.

I feel fortunate that I "got outta dodge" before it/she took office, but if what you predict happens, we're all doomed!

please no hitlery, please don't do that to me!

on the reptile note they are fascinating, i love all the links you guys are posting im learning a lot

Cool. Reptiles take a lot of research and proper setup is of paramount importance. Other than watching for mites and mouth rot, they are basically low maintenance, beautiful to look at, and can live for a long time if kept properly. Some can live as long as a cat or a dog, some much, much longer.
