Bloofington, my apologies. However, I thought there was a good deal of humor in the thread you locked up and to read you pointedly denouce it for lack of humor (admitedly only one reason) was a bit over the top, IMHO. A good deal of real world information was over ridden, too. The Macallans reference is a $200 a bottle one and is something to be desired. Few have delved into Bushmills 18 and it too, has an honorable place along with Lagavulin and Taliskers -- I could go on. Any who see the locked thread in this forum might indeed get curious.

Perhaps this link will entertain the forum readers here:

I've managed to make the URL work at the bottom of this post.

My good friend Cor, and his wife Chelle, are responsible for bringing the best tequila to the DF/W area. They host formal tastings quite often. Through them I learned there is more to tequila than Patron.

I tend to host Single Malt Scotch and Single Malt Whiskey tastings. Along with Aaron Steinle, we bring over Absinthe from France, Spain, Germany and other countries for private tastings.

My wife and I make a world class Belgian style ale, a great dark bock, the best Stout in Texas and we make red wines. We always have some babies bubblin'. My wife is a natural. She took to it from the git-go. It is a great partnership: I pay for the ingedients, she turns them into gold. Cain't beat it with a stick.

This is a great new thread. I wish we could build more on these discussions. The only thing is that even after copying and pasting, the link didn't work. Maybe we can get that worked out. Other than that, I'd love to hear more about all this that Rene440 brought up.

I spoke with Cor last night and invited him to join in our fun here. This guy knows the answers or knows who does.

I hope he chimes in soon.

Tequila Anyone?

Well I made it in. They let anyone register nowadays!

I heard my name drop here, so thought I would chime in.

Tequila is what we sip, and only the good stuff.

Welcome, Cor!

Hope they bring on the "Q's" so you can "A."

I'll start:

What was the name of the tequila we drank at your birthday party last year?

That was Jose Cuervo Familia Reserva, or family reserve. There are not many tequila's from Cuervo that I would recommend, but this one is very nice.
My friend handbottled it at the distillery!!

Ah! I remember now. I was impressed *because* it carried the Jose Cuervo imprimatur. Do they sell this on the consumer market?

New track: I think I like Chocolate Patron the best. :)

I'm a Patron fan, I drink it neat out of the freezer. I can't say I have drank alot of Tequilla. I use Jose Cuervo Especial in margaritas. I'll look forward to reading comments and recommendations. Anything in the Grapevine, TX. area?

Are you into blanco, reposado, or anejo?
For your region it may be worth while to drive to the blue mesa in southlake. They normally have a decent selection and great food.

Try out Casa Noble next time instead of patron. You may be pleasantly surprised.

As for magaritas, use Cuervo Tradicional, which is a 100% agave reposado tequila for about $25. It makes great margaritas and due to the better type of tequila there will be no hangovers the next day.

I drink the blanco and anejo. I live in Southlake but I haven't been to the Blue Mesa. They ticked me off years ago at their restaurant in Plano. I have never gone back.

I'll check to see if Anamia's carries Casa Noble they next time I go there (once a week if I'm in town)

Thanks for the tip.

I have never been able to sip tequila like I sip single malts, how ever I have been mixing it in Sunrises & the traditional Margerattas , I dont care for the frozen ones & I skip the strawberry & other flavored ones , lord knows I have drank my share of the cobo wabo & other high end Tequilas , but when you mix them , I cant see the difference , so I stay with the Zapata or the Jose Curavo-clasico.
bring on the single malts , Enjoy, Vince

What is going on Vince ? This is NOT a single Malt Smoke drinking thread. This is the juice of the catus thread. I keep a bottle of the Jose Curavo Centennial in the back of my bar for special occasions. When I make mixed drinks (Margeretta's & Sunrises) I use a premixed teqilla/triple sec combination that runs 90 proof. You still get lots of flavor/punch even when you make the frozen drinks. As Vince said once you mix the stuff a lot of the subtle tastes are gone. Why waste over priced Teqilla on mixed drinks.

your so right BT, so to show my remorse I am having a Sunrise with my Kenya AA & one egg this morning ! Enjoy, Vince

you fix it any way you want, MY fork isnt going near it hahahahaha Enjoy, Vince
