Armpit of the world....Al Asad, Iraq
Hey everyone,
My buddy Greg's plane landed at 1445 and was back on Pendleton at 1600. It was a good reunion. His parents were there and overjoyed with his return! His wife was delayed in Phoenix so she didn't get to see him when the rest of us did. However, she is in San Diego right now waiting for him and his parents to pick her up and then they can have some "quality" time! After a quick hello, we found his gear, loaded his car, then colors began to sound. All of us snapped to attention, faced the flag and those who were in uniform saluted, those who weren't stood at the POA (position of attention). When the "all clear" was sounded I turned to him and said, "Means a little more now, doesn't it?" His response, "Sure does, brother...sure does."

We said our good-byes and off he went to join his wife. I then went to the battery office where they were issuing the Marines the keys to their rooms. I placed a rather large box filled with cigars on the desk, said to the Marines, "Welcome home Devil Dogs! Smoke 'em if you got 'em!". The room erupted with a loud "OO-RAH!".
On the box I placed a sign that read, "Welcome Home 1/11..Have a cigar..Compliments of Sgt Townsend and members of the AmBack Forum"

They were VERY appreciated!

Here are some pics of Greg's return.
