Great pictures, all. NoBite, if that corn snake is really six feet long, then you have a world record tying corn snake. Corn snakes over five feet just aren't heard of any more.

Hmm. That was a S.W.A.G. You know it's tough to measure snakes, but I'll give it a go one day and see. I doubt I have any sort of a record! Pretty much an average corn snake, IMO. But, let's see what we we've got.

It certainly is a beauty and that's what's important. My corn snake died at about 11.25-11.5 years, of which I had it for 10 years, 10 months and 3 weeks, all healthy, beautiful, pleasurable weeks. A bit tough to turn it into a good feeder, but he/she lived a nice, healthy long life, and became a good feeder. Surely a "regular" corn snake like yours and mind was, is one of the world's most beautiful snakes. The variations that breeders have come up with are interesting, and some are really weird. I think all this stuff tends to get out of hand. Albino Burmese Pythons, once an expensive specialty snake, are now as common as stray cats.

Bloofington - you certainly had good luck with your corn snake. Yeah, I pretty much like the "normal" color patterns. But, there are some beauties out there, for a price. I subscribe to a site that often has snakes for sale well in excess of $1,000 - - which takes it beyond a mere hobby, IMO!

My first snake was a Burmese Python. I donated that snake to a zoo in the town where I lived at that time. The snake is still there and we estimate him to be nearing 30 years of age. My Mother is a volunteer at that zoo and usually volunteers at the reptile house. She loves the snakes. My Dad, OTOH, is deathly afraid of them. I find them quite interesting. I went a period of time with no snakes. Then, I got the urge again and have the three pictured in this thread. These will likely be the last I have, but I enjoy them.

If you can stand one more pic, here's one from the zoo where my Mom volunteer's. They have a pair of male cheetahs there that were raised by humans. For the zoo workers, volunteers and their families, if you sign a waiver, you can go into the cheetah pen. I never pass up a chance when I am home on a visit!

That's one beautiful picture. Niiiiiiice kitty, just lay there, riiiight, very nice kitty, okay, is the waiver time up, I think I hear my mommy calling me.

Great pictures NoBite, my wife would never let me have a snake in our house, but I suspect that my son will be a snake owner once he lives on his own.

Keep it up gang, these pictures are terrific!!

Here is my dog Gabbie. She's a little over a year old and is a boston terrier/lhasa apso mix. The first one is more recent at her graduation from "obedience school" with me and my wife Kristen. The next pic is from when we first got her. The first day we had her, she was actually calm.

Here are my beasts! Slim is a 5 year old German Rottweiler that came over from stutgart(sp?). Ty was in that picture 3 months old, he's a beautiful brindel pit bull. I don't have pics of him currently, but boy did I pick him right!! Hes built like a brick house and loveable as all can be.

Thanks..
Paul

My brother's neighbor had a Shih Tzu. It attacked my nephew one day, locked on to his face! I went to scare it away, it didn't stop. So I grabbed it and pulled his mouth open to release my nephew, the damn thing latched on to my hand! So I threw it across the street.

2 stiches in my hand = $140
18 stiches and antibiotics for my nephew = $415
Dog's 2 broken legs = $165

The satisfaction of watching that dog run every time it saw me.....
PRICELESS!

that's really a shame, DD. Not what you did, cause I would have done the same in that situation... But that a dog can be raised to be that way, unfortunately any dog that is not trained and cared for properly can become dangerous..after all, they are animals... My Wallace is a Shih Tsu, and he is the friendliest dog you could ask for.

I love dogs and have been biten, but the way you describe that I would have to say that thing should have been put to sleep.

I agree, however, CA law says that since it was the first RECORDED attack, it can only be quarantined for 14 days to make sure it doesn't have any diseases. Then the owners have the option of putting it down or taking it home.

I should've thrown it further.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE dogs. I used to breed and raise American Bulldogs. It's like Spider said, it's the upbringing by it's owners. Who knows, maybe my nephew was messing with it? He's always denied it, of course.
Either way, that dog has never attacked anyone again.
