Alright, Kuzi's "mild, medium, full" thread made me think to ask this. What does the "kick your butt" cigar feel like to you? Is it just a head rush? Do you feel it all over? I was never a cigarette smoker, but back in college I would have one every now and then when I had had a little too much to drink and would get a head rush off of one. Is it like that?

The reason I ask is because my tastes are evolving a little and I am curious about how I will react to a really strong cigar. When I was in Aruba about 5-6 years ago, I had an H.Upman Cuban Monarch and got clammy and nautious. Is this a reaction some have to large levels of nicotine? In all likelihood, from what I've learned since starting to smoke reguarly, it probably was not a cuban at all because I didn't get it at an LCDH, so for all I know I could have been reacting to some poisonous chemical in there or something. So, after writing this novel, my question really boils down to, what does a cigar feel like when it really kicks you in the teeth?

Very light headed and a little quesy. Kind like if you stand up you are not going to have your balance and you might fall over and you may feel like throwing up. you might have to sit back down and hold onto the arms of your chair because you feel like you are going to fall over.

It can be from a nicotine rush or from lack of O2 to the brain if you smoke it too fast. I have only had a big buzz from a cigar once--an Ashton 898. I never smoked Cigarettes or dipped/chewed though. I took a SKoal 'renegade' a few months back and got a NASTY buzz. I got light headed, clammy, nausious and my toes felt icy. Never again.

Exactly. Very few cigars do this to me anymore but I have a knack for stumbling onto ones that do.

I will pretty much agree with what has been posted so far. I have had only one cigar "kick my butt" and that was the Joya de Nicuragua. I had to stay in my seat for a bit after the smoke and I definitly felt like I could throw up. bad bad feeling. I havent smoked one since. I usually dont have problems with stong cigars or nicotine for that matter (I dip Copenhagen). I go through a can every three days or so. I have heard that the Camcho Diploma is a pretty strong cigar as well. I am ready for the challenge

I appreciate the responses so far. So this is an enjoyable experience for you guys? Sounds to me like it is the type of feeling to be avoided at all costs.

Its not to me. Its all about prowess and pride though. If you can say you smoked an Antano Gran Consul for instance, and didn't get sick, you might be considered more tough. The whole body issue is BS to me. Smoke what you like.

i like the kick your butt style because even though it is a head rush i ALWYAS eat before i smoke. the sick usually does not follow. I find the very powerful cigars very relaxing.
