What Havana did you smoke today?

Thursday I smoked a Quintero y Hermano Breva. This one has been in my humidor for about three years. The cigar was very clean-tasting with cedar and honey flavors. I would say it's worth its cost and a nice daily smoke.

I smoked a few today - but the standout was the Hoyo Epicure 2 - what a great cigar. Always consistent, great burn, nice flavor. Had a JP Cazzadore also (yes, I was on the golf course) and a PL Panatella (needs age - like a year at least).

Hopefully I will have more to report tomorrow.

Yesterday I smoked a Cohiba Secreto Maduro 5 (these keep getting better), and today I smoked a Por Larranaga Robusto Asia Pacific RE. The RE definitely has some potential but has a way to go.

Today I'm smoking a Juan Lopez Corona from a 2001 box. The cigar has a bit of a firm draw but still has wonderful barnyard and nutty flavors. It's a shame these are being discontinued. Long live the thinner ring guages!

This weekend I smoked a TON of cigars. But my favorite of the weekend was a '99 Choix Supreme that I smoked with a 10 year tawny (Fonseca). All I can say is that the smooth flavor of leather (yes, leather) was predominant through the smoke and it was a perfect pairing in front of an outdoor fire. I think I need to find time in the next few weeks to hit that combination again and review it (too much port for me by the end of the cigar - no way I was coherent enough to review.)

All in all the cigar lasted about an hour and a half.

I had a pretty good cigar weekend. Friday I smoked a Vegas Robaina Famoso. I have found these cigars to be quite consistent. For my birthday I smoked a Montecristo Petit Edmundo; I just can't get enough of this cigar. I also smoked a Cohiba Maduro Genios. This cigar had a sweet flavor on the wrapper and strong flavors of peat and wood. I would say this cigar needs some time to hit its stride, but it was still enjoyable.

Happy Birthday old timer - I am with you on the Petit Edmundos (I blame you of course.) I love the flavor profile and it is always a consistent draw with tons of smoke.

Tuesday night I had a 99 VR familar. This is the first time I had a cigar from the VR marca. The draw was on the tight side, but the flavors were great. Kind of nutty and a little sweet and then it evolved to a little spice and vanilla. The brun was absolutely perfect. It was a very good cigar. It got a little bitter at the end due to the tight draw and me pulling a little more than I should have.

Smoked 2 last night at a tequila tasting event!! Not only were there great tequilas, the place was filled with eye candy.

I had a Partigas Luci, and a PSD 4. I probably should not have had the last shot of tequila, but the company sitting at my table made it hard to resist!!!

Last night I had an 05 Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion #4. The cigars from this box have been consistently good. Today I went with an 01 SCDLH El Principe; in a word: fantastic.

Wednesday night I smoked a Juan Lopez Seleccion #2. The cigar was full of rich cedar and tea flavors; medium-bodied in strength.

07' PLPC. Sucker was way plugged, but that gave me the chance to use my new Henry Tool to unplug it (Thanks Kev). It was like there was something large in there. The stick felt perfect, but i could feel something firm blocking the path. I ended up accidentally pushing the cherry off of it (amateur), but once I re-lit, it was perfect.

Glad you could use the Henry's Tool. Those little pokers have saved me so many cigars over the years. I used to use the Drawpoker - but since the end is pointed it doesn't really keep the pathway open.

You guy's always talk about these tools, where can they be found?

Vegas Robaina famoso with a couple margaritas tonight. I've been sucking down margarita like water this summer!

Well I am back from vacation and I did enjoy a few cuban cigars.

I started the trip off with an '07 Super Partagas on the ride down to the cape. This is like a chico on steroids. Lots of spice and flavor; but pretty tannic. These need a good amount of time. Not near ready yet.

The next day while the older kids and my wife were at the beach I had an '07 PL panatela. Same as they always are; the perfect sunday morning or early afternoon cigar with coffee. Light on the palate but not on taste. The burn was good.

I had a couple of JLP cazadores. These never disapoint. I gave one to my brother in law. It was his first cuban and he was very impressed.

One night up by myself I had a 98 ERDM Lonsdale. This was not so great last year; but was much better this year. The burn was much much better than last year. The flavor was nice and dark and full on the pallete. The finish lingered and was smooth.

One of the days I had an 00 Punch PC. Not bad. The roll was a little tight; but a toothpick helped things out and it burned good from there out.

The last night I had an '07 PSD4. This was the best cigar of the week. the burn was perfect; the flavor was excellent and typical partagas spice without and bitterness. I enjoyed it immensly.

I had a Juan Lopez Selection 2 06'
What amazing earthy flavors! Had some draw problems, but good enough cigar that I can overlook it this time!

Smoked a Diplomatico 2 on the golf course this morning - lasted all 18 holes!!! 2 and a half hours - incredible! I had to relight 3-4 times because of the dampness - but I kept it on my cart the hole time to smoke it slowly. Wow - great cigar - still can't believe it lasted that long!

I am in the middle of smoking a Sancho Panza Corona. This is and EXCELLENT smoke. Tons of cocoa to start - getting a little herbal halfway. I will write more when I am done. I am getting more of these for sure!

Finished the Sancho Panza Corona - what a great smoke. The rest of the cigar was filled with cocoa notes, a bit on the herbal and then finished off with coffee flavors. Didn't think I would like a corona as much as I liked this baby.

Just moved on after dinner to a Choix Supreme 99 with a 10 year old port. Tons of leathery smoke. This is definitely my favorite combination. Put this one together last month and I have to say it is just as good as that time.

Life is good right now.
