Hello to everyone, as you can tell I'm new here. I've been casually smoking cigars for a few years now, just having one every now and then. I finally decided to buy a small humidor (50 ct) and start stocking up on some decent smokes.

I'm looking to spend a reasonable amount on a variety of different cigars to find out what I really like before I take a leap and start buying some cases. I have smoked all of the Cigar.com house blends and really enjoyed them all, mainly the Cameroon label and Cuban label. I've also had a few Macanudos, Romeo y Julietas, Montecristos, and other random smokes here and there.

I enjoy them all and am open to try anything, but as far as broad range I haven't had many different brands/styles. Basically, I am hoping some of you guys can offer some advice to help me branch out and really start devolping a taste for some good cigars. Any drink suggestions to pair with them would be welcome as well as I enjoy a good drink with cigars also.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I am glad to join the group here, I've read through some of the threads and it looks to me like I can learn a lot around here. Thanks in advance, Jim

Jim,
glaf to have you here, check out this thread. There is some great choices there.

Also get a bigger Humidor, biggest you can afford.

Call the guys at C.com. talk to them and let them hook you up with a great sampler.

welcome, first you need to go ahead and buy like a 500 ct. humidor! :D

once you've done that, go ahead and buy yourself a 5000 ct. humidor!

now you are ready. go ahead and get some padrones, fuentes, partagas, stick with the reg. lines, and then work your way up to the la flor dominicana, rockies, ashton vsg's, davidoff mill. blends.

that should get you started.

P.S. i hope you are not married?

Welcome to the forum. No need to branch out, just stick to the Cameroon Label and you will be happy the rest of your life. lol Those are my absolute favorite. I have two boxes aging since 2004. As a matter of fact, I gave Alex one at cigar fest from 2004. It was the only one I brought along with me......

Definitely get a few samplers. Thats a great way to try a few different smokes without breaking the bank. Also keep in mind that a lot of cigars have a different flavor profile depending on size: one brands' Corona, Robusto and Torpedo may all taste a little different. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Couple suggestions for brands to try would be Tatuaje Red and Brown label and La Aurora 1495. At the moment those are my two favorites.

Far as drink pairings, I'm boring as far as that goes. I sip water or club soda and lime with my cigars. 8)

Welcome to the forum. Let us know how it goes.

om not just talking up cigar.com here i swear.

step 1) call up cigar.com the number is somewhere on the main page.

step 2) read your post to them.

step 3) let donny, tim, jeff (or any of their staff) share their wisdom.

these guys are good. they know their stuff and they want you be happy. they arent JUST looking to sell you cigars. well... maybe they do want to sell you cigars, but they only want to sell you cigars that you will like. they dont want you to buy cigars just to make alot of money. real stand up guys over there.

Definitely get C.com to put together a sampler but don forget to try the Paron x000 series, for the money IMO there is not a better smoke try them in nat. or maduro C.com has one of the best prices around on the internet

Thanks for all the suggestions, I got in touch with the guys at cigar.com and put together a nice big order.

Now just gotta get my humidor up and running, by the time the smokes get here I should be all ready to go. I'll let you guys know how I like the new stash.

Thanks, and I look forward to talking with you guys in the future. Jim
