People smoked Cloves & some kind of leaves if I remember right?
They were "beatie's" or something like that?
Maybe it was Bay Leaves?

It was bay leaves. From what people told me it was like a high. When trying to get high in my younger years I just stuck to good ole cannibus.

I stopped by the smoke shop today and got some new smokes to try. I got another Gurhka. a CAO brazilian, a bucanero from costa rica, and yea a few acids  I seen a pretty cool smoke there, it was a CAO soprano. Has anyone tried them?

I"ll fess up to liking a few flavoreds. I got a box of Heavenly Vanillas that I'm working through, and am also fond of the Kahlua Robustos. As far as Acids, I've tried the Atom, One, Nasty, and Kuba. The Atom and the One were not that memorable, and the Nasty was . . . well . . . nasty. The Kuba on the other hand was worth buying a second stick. Got compliments when I lit it with some friends around.

I personally love tobacco flavored tobacco.

Flavored smokes create a ton of new cigar aficionados - good

Chicks sometimes dig flavored cigars - good

They stink up the local cigar club - Bad

Good friend of mine just took the NE Sales region for Drew Estates - Priceless

I've tried three of them. Ordinary Larry, Acid One, and Cold Tea Infusion. The Tea Infusion was horrid! All I could taste was the sweet wrapper. I worked on it a while hoping the sweetness would go away, but it didn't, so I pitched the thing. The Acid One and Ordinary Larry were ok, but didn't really do anything for me. Smokable, yes, better than a $1.75 Flor de Oliva? no.

I probably will try some of the Drew Estate Naturals though. Unlike the Acids they're not infused, and the tobacco from "non traditional cigar tobacco regions" sounds interesting. They've also got some fun shapes. The one I really want to try is the "egg", which looks like a corona that swallowed an egg.

I wouldn't buy that the Drew Estates Naturals are not infused. I smoked one of those Drew Estates cigars that was supposedly "natural," although I forget the name, and I got pretty sick. Later on I found out that wellllll, there is something on the wrapper, but it's pretty much a natural cigar. As far as I'm concerned, I'm staying away from anything Drew Estates makes.

Thanks for your service to our country!

Regarding Gurhka's; I like them very much too! The Dople maduro is very, very good! If you get a chance, try them. The Boer is another favorite of mine! 8)

ever tried the ancient warrior?

A while back I posted a thread asking about the Acids (Blondie) and everyone said they didn't like them. Of course,me being the hard-headed person I am, I ordered one. The number of sticks I've had I can count on two hands, but I can say that this is one awful smoke! Absolutley horrible! You might as well be smoking a stick of inscense. I didn't even finish it. I didn't even do a complete write up of it in my cigar journal. I just made a note of how bad it was. They do have a plus side though-I can put a box of these in the bathroom to use as air freshner. I know everyones tastes are different and if you like them, hey be happy you found a stick that you enjoy. I'm still looking for my everyday smoke.

are you trying to tell us it smelled like a stinky weasel?

sorry couldnt resist

The only cigar I've tried by Drew Estates was the Sauza. A buddy of mine got a couple for his birthday, and he brought one to the shop on a Friday afternoon. He lit it up, and proclaimed that it was awful. He's a guy who rarely puts a cigar down, no matter how bad. He put this one down. Another of our smoking buddies picked it up and took a few puffs and he also put it down promtly. I tried it next. One puff, and I wanted to go wash my mouth out with soap.

I will say this, however..it smelled pretty decent, almost like pipe tobacco.

I almost forgot all about that one! Dammm, on our cigar crawl last May , I lit up a Sauza , it was in a glass tube, after lighting it I tool ONE PUFF, & put it back in the glass tube, deposited it in the nearest trash can . I love cigars & I some times smoke a pipe but I stay away from the flavored stuff, the Paliden black cherry smells just wonderful when some one is smoking it, so I tryed it, IT taste like , like , like , well something bad I dont have a word for it , the flavored cigars remind me of the black cherry pipe tobacco, just give me an old Monte, a cup of strong black coffee & a snifter of single malt from the Highlands or Islay, put the Blues or jazz on the CD player, prop me up in the corner & just make sure you wake me at closing time ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

I liked the Sauza but haven't had one in probably 6 months. My tastes have matured a lot so I'll have to check it out again.

The naturals are okay for something different in my opinion but there's no way I could smoke those all the time. Its like smoking a sugar cube and no tobacco in the world will make that flavor. So I call b@^&%^&t on the natural claim.

I would recommend the Maker's Mark. This is a great special occasion cigar. You usually can't go wrong with a cigar flavored with liquor.

When I first started cigars, I got a Curvoisier stick that was quite nice.

Chris, have you ever had the Gurkha Gran Reserve? I can't smell one let alone light one and smoke it.
