The link in my post is for Dominican Cohibas made by the Monticristi Factory. They are not fakes but rather knock-offs with a stolen band. They are what are refererred to as Dominican Yellow Band Cohibas.

They were made by the Montecristi factory as I said but were originally only intended for the Dominican market. Some ended up being imported to the US. This caused General to file suit. General won but the Judge ordered that once imported the cigars could not be recalled. They are limited because of this lawsuit since no more are being imported. However don't take that to mean they are worth buying. From all accounts I've seen they are not good cigars and sell in a lot of shops in bundles of 25 for 40 dollars or so.

These are the same cigars we discussed in Chris Guinthure's "New Cohiba" thread.

Hi guys. New guy here.

BigTom, I too don't understand why you would make such a general statement about an entire group like the HCF. The HCF is no different than any other group of guys who float around the different cigar BBS. I mean, even if you've had disagreements in the past with members of the HCF on other boards why would you make such a generalized statement about the entire group. I hope you don't take offense to my comments since I am a new member here. I have been reading this board for a while and this thread made me decide to become a member.
.

RM,
To be fair to Amback - I'd have to say this is forum has very little bad mouthing of anyone.
It is kept very clean & I am surprised that BT's post are still up.
I hang out here a lot because of how many nice people there are on these boards.
For teh most part it is 100% free of trolls & BS.
I've had a run in awhile back with one poster and the problem was solved very quickly.
Hey I understand Tom does not egt along with the HCF.
I see now why more than I did in the past - I have a problem when people post things in places where they think it will not be seen by the people he is posting about - or maybe he wanted the HCF to know how he feels.
Not everyone can get along, but I see no need for that kind of post.
One thing I have learned about BB is there is a place for everyone.
A place to learn everything.
I hope Tom posts a public apologies (like he did in private) & we can all move on to why we are here -
To Share and exchange thoughts on Cigars & Life!

my point exactly CC. We don't all have to get along, but I just don't understand why shots are taken some times. We are all (mostly) grown men and should handle ourselves accordingly.

hopefully everything gets worked out. i have A LOT of friends in the HCF, but that's not why I'm involved in this thread. I just don't like to see guys make such generalized comments.

Thank you very much guys for all the help you gave. I have a bit of money coming in Jan from a second job, and I thought it would be neat to add some Cohibas to my collection.

But, I guess these just aren't the C's that I really want. Maybe I will just have to settle with some expensive Canadian cigars instead.

Once again, thank you one and all.

And Quag, where on earth did you get that picture of the old guy? He looks just like a fellow who used to be in my fair city.

These look exactly like the "new Cohibas" I saw at my local shop. i was told by the shop owner these are a result of the court case with General Cigar. The way it was described to me is there are three manufacturers of Cohiba: 1. Cuba 2. General Cigar (Red Dots), and this new "Cohiba." The shop owner said these are not as full-flavored as the Red Dots. As far as I'm concerned, I'm sticking with the Red Dots that I know and love. Unless I'm in Switzerland or Canada with a reputable dealer, I'm not purchasing anything that remotely looks like a Cuban Cohiba.

Not new, just newest. It sounded to me like you were told that these were the result of the court case between General and Cubatabacco. These are instead what the court case between General and Monticristi was about.

Awe BOB!
man...I'm sorry for ya.......

I saw CastleCrest speeding across the altoona line earlier and he threw a can of red spray paint out his window....

I dunno, they are a roudy bunch!

i guess that's a pretty good assesment. in reality the hcf is a group of guys whose passions are quite varied, but the one thing in common is cigars. the hcf has been around for quite a while and is really no different than any other group of guys who hangs out on a cigar BBS. the hcf prides themselves on getting together as often as possible. it's a great feeling knowing that you've got a friend anywhere there's another hcf member. at least that's the way i see it. maybe CC can add to this.

Werd Up DOG!

HCF is a Family - I'll say this:
When my house got flooded this spring & I was knee deep in mud and what nots. The HCF was amazing!
I had 10 guys show up at my door to help clean,
the guys that could not make it sent cigars & or money for food.
I'm not talking drove from PA, guys came from Fla, Ohio & ect...
It was amazing, friends from down the road didn't offer the help these guys did.
As far as getting together goes - you ain't seen nothing like it!
We tore Vegas a new one last year - the bartenders were wearing gas masks!
Generousity like you would not believe.
HCF is a Family!
I am HCF for LIFE!

HCF chooses it's members it is not - ask to join.
Not all people get along, but when your HCF no one messes with another HCF member - it is Family business.
So some people find it a rough bunch, they insult one guy and 20 people stand up and say no!
Now a saying of the HCF is "No man is beyond redemtion",
so if someone screws up and stands up like a man, all is forgiven.
Act up like a child and find you will not be welcome.
Rough bunch in some ways,
but sweet as the day your born - as well.

Also HCF has a home site - http://WWW.Cigarwise.com
our members are the moderators of the board, if anyone wants to learn about Cuban cigars it is the place - just don't asking how to get them!
That is a no no!
Hope that helps!
Merry X'mas to all!
CC

I dunno, they are a roudy bunch! I woke up this morning to see my cuban humidor empty and some spray paint on my lovely poster! These guys mean business...wish I would've just paid them their 1 cigar a month tax.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that is FUNNY!

Everyone has made their point here, in spades. There are people who don't get along with others in this world. This we know. There are fake Cuban cigars in this world. This we know.
