Blind Box Pass, the original

can I suggest an idea here for some us new guys (me) who are unfamiliar with the Cuban side of cigars, that they be marked on the bag in some way, so I don't inadvertantly take one without KNOWING it is a Qban? Just an idea...

I will put them in their own zippy bag with "QBANS" on it.

I would not have put in a CAO Cameroon. I said what I did because it sounded like an Edge Lite and as far as I know, I'm the only one that had any to put into the box.

I 'put' a Padron 1964 Anniversary Monarca. There was no Padron 1964 Anniversary Monarca in the box when it got to dbrad4d. I have know way of knowing whose put is unaccounted for so I attributed 1/2 to you and 1/2 to me.

I thought I wrote down what I sent Capt but, can't find the list. I really like the idea of putting a Post-it with our name along with the cigar. Can we do that with the next pass?

On the upcoming pass you will post your takes and puts when you make them. We will be able to keep a running inventory with each stop.

But, wont that that the mystery out of it?

It will be a regular box pass this time, not a blind. I kinda like the idea better as there are a bunch of stix that I know I would like to try and would be able to pin point them.

I'd prefer a Blind Pass only because folks can't pick out all of the good stuff.

If I put an Opus I'd like the last guy on the pass to have just as much a chance of getting it as the guy after me.

its equal value tho. if you take a high end cigar you must put a cigar of equal or higher value in. that way everyone can get a nice selection to choose from and if you do not have any high end cigars you can just take a cigar that you can match in value. :D

Its tough when you put in a rare cigar like an Opus X. You can find a cigar of equal Value for MSRP, but its much easier to get that cigar. That is one of the labels I will just avoid in the pass. You cannot replace it that easy unless you put in another Opus X or Padron 1926 or anejo. There are so many good cigars out there to try and to pass. I will stick with those.

Can we also make a rule that you have to put the MSRP (or cigar.com price) on your puts so that peole can put in something of equal or lesser value to replace it. I would feel bad if I picked out a 10 dollar stick thinking that it was only a 5 dollar stick and putting something in that did not replace it monetarily.

its in the rules on page 40 of this thread about the prices and what to use as a guide and if in doubt just ask for help someone will always help out :D :D

In the first 2 passes I was in I don't think I took anything over $9 in value because that's what I had the most of to put back.

The way it is "supposed" to work is ...

If you take an Opus you should put something at least of equal value, maybe it's an Anejo or GOF or Casa Fuente or Perdomo Edicion De Silvio.

Any way, you get the idea ... Premium for Premium. Qban for Qban.

Maybe there will be an Opus left at the end ...

The reason for posting your takes and puts when you make them is to give the group time to review before you send the box on it's way. Then if someone has a question about your takes and puts they can PM you about it to clear it up.

Value of the cigars is based on cigar.com prices since they are the common link with all of us. If your cigar is not carried by cigar.com or if there is one in the pass you want to take but don't know the value, post and ask. We can come up with a fair value.

I like this idea. I know I'll be making my selections at home. My problem is I don't have internet connection at home. So, I like the idea of putting a Post-it with the Cigar.com price on your stick.

How 'bout say if I put in a Davidoff. Which, unless I missed it, c.com doesn't carry. How about I just leave the price tag on? I've noticed prices vary on these from site to site, and my local shop has some varieties for quite a bit less than any site sells them for.
