I never see any posts about the cigar of the month club. Is anyone in this forum a part of it, or am I the only one?

If not, I'll just let you all know that this months was a very nice selection of the Gurkha.

Yo parker.....

Good call, not sure if the cigar of the month thing is everyones bag, but i am there with yea. I never see anyone say anything either. (could have something to do with the fact that I have only been trolling the boards for a couple months).

Not to sound to much like a fan boy...

I am participating in it, as a noob I am trying all kinds of sticks just to see what they are like. The "club" has given me stuff I would not have tried on my own, and it is only 30 bones a month!!

I got the Gurkha pack as well..... As I have learned my lesson, the hard way, I am letting them sit in the humi before i try them.

I have mixed feelings on Cigar of the Month Clubs. I do like the idea of getting to try a bunch of different sticks. What I don't like is the idea of those cigars being blindly selected for me. I would gladly give 30 bucks to most anyone here to put me together a verity pack every month, but do it with an obscure website :?

I feel like the assortment of sticks that you get is influenced by not only quality, but also inventory numbers, dealer backing, and overall profitability.

You could start a thread here every month asking us to recommend an assortment that can be ordered from C.com for 30 bucks shipped. I assure you that pack would put a cigar of the month club pack to shame.

I don't want to discourage anyone from joining a club that would expand their cigar horizons, but I do feel that you can make better use of the 30 bucks by picking and choosing cigars that are tried and true.

From what I have read - many people like the COTM -
they seem to always feel it's a good deal & always cthey want to try.
Never heard of any off the charts smokes or odd ball cigars.
I really don';t [pay enpugh attention -
I'd like to hear more!

I've been a member of the club for 2 months now ( my wife bought me a 6 month subscription) Last month there was about $48.00 worth of cigars, and the main cigar was a Greycliff. I would never have spent $24.00 to try one. But I can now and I got 4 other really nice cigars. This months selection is also worth far more than the $29.00 she paid. All Gurkas, I've never tried any of these either. When my 6 months are up I'm definatly going to re up. I think its a great deal, and its kind of fun not knowing exactly when they will arrive and whats in the box. The anticipation is cool.
Cigar.com has NEVER dissapointed me, and when I have a question, there is always someone there to answer it, and offer sugestions. I dont think its inventory driven. No one has a ton of Greycliffs laying around, taking up space

thats my 0.02

Jesse,
Your thoughts make sence to me. I've never really thought about it like that. I look at differently. I have no desire to smoke a Greycliff because i have it set in my head that it will be no better than a less expensive Cusano or Fuente. I would not feel like I've gotten my money worth out of it. I guess people who would take pleasure in sampleing cigars they would not normally buy would be more attracted to the idea.

Hey...to each thier own

That is the great thing about this hobby, you will never run out of new cigars to try. Because of that you don't have to feel bad that you didn't smoke any real expensive cigars, there are LOTS of great cigars under 10 bucks. Smoke what you like, nobody can tell you what you like, but they can always point you in the right direction for something new to try.

Great topic. I, too, have been debating whether to join the COTM or not. As a newcomer to cigars, I've been looking for a variety of brands to try, and the club seems to be an ideal way to do it. Looking back at the selections of the past year I haven't noticed any particular month where you really didn't get more than your $30 worth.

My problem is I still like visiting the local shops in my area and I NEVER leave empty-handed. For me its got to be one or the other. If I join the club, I would almost have to stop going to the local places (or visiting and not buying), and I'm not sure if I want to do that just yet.

I've been doing the COTMC for a while and have not had any complaints about what I've gotten. I definately have my favorites and those are usually what I buy when I go to a local shop, place an order online, or bid in online auctions. I look at the COTMC as an opportunity to try something different, or add to my trade inventory. Not knowing what I'm getting each month hasn't really been a concern to me. $29.95 a month doesn't break me by any means either.

I got my first COTM package last week, funny thing is that I have really been wanting to try some of the Gurkha line and imagine my surprise and delight when I opened the box up. That in itself was worth the money.

The retail on the Centurian alone is a huge chunk of the $29.95 paid for the month, everything else for me is bonus smoking, I don't think I would have bought one of those for a while and now I have one sitting in my humi waiting for a post bbq celebratory smoke. Maybe if England wins the World Cup final? Who knows?

I plan on doing the COTM again, the only thing that would dissuade me would be a mild selection as I am not a big fan.

C.com really made a beleiver out of me. Thumbs up.

Have been a member for almost a year now and have NO complaints! In the area I live in you have to travel 80 miles to buy anything other than swisher sweets. If it had not been for the CLUB I would have not discovered Cusano,Edge by Rocky Patel,Rocky Patel Connecticut or Vegas 5 A. Plus the added benefit of 10% off any purchase as CLUB member. KEEP EM COMING!!!

Its nice to see other people enjoying this club. I feel that I'd never try 75 percent of cigars here if it wasn't for this club. I plan to start smoking the Gurkha's in another 2-weeks or so.

the anticipation is killer fun. Me and my smoking buddy can't wait all month to see whats in the box.

The hardest part is putting them in the humi and waiting a bit for them to settle.

And so far I have gotten more than the 30.00 spent in cigars.

Bring on the new sticks!!!

LOL, while I cant gaurantee it is for everyone, I can promise you will get at least $29.00 worth of cigars each month.

Wait until you see what is coming next month. If you have been debating on joining, be sure to sign up for at least the next one.

Hey Alex, when do the newsletter's usually get posted on the site? I think I've read April's about 10 times now.

Hey PArker.....

They are usually posted on the 1st of th emonth, Alex and I did a lot of traveling recently so it is a little behind schedule....but rest assured....It will be up very very soon...........

If you join after the current month's selection has been unveiled, do you have to wait until the next month to start receiving cigars?

May newsletter is up. I posted it on Monday. Once you join the club, you will get your cigars around the first of the following month. IE if you join on 5/10/06, your first installment will be our June Club which will arrive around 6/1/06

The next two clubs will spotlight two cigar makers, both of which are some of my favorites.

Ok, I'm really blind. If I click on the newsletter link on cigar.com's homepage all I can see is April's. Anyone have a link?
