Cigar of the month club

Yea Parker,

I also only see up to April on the website...

I just figured they did not update it yet.

With my weak computer skills I had to book mark the c.com home page and when the mouse pointer turns into a little hand while I hover over the pitcure of the newletter I click.....

Is there another way, or place that I should be look for it ?

I couldn't wait so I tried the Gurkha regent the other night. Excellent smoke, nice burn, tasted wonderful and was a nice hour and a half of cigar bliss. I have no idea when if ever I would have tried one of these cigars and now I have a new smoke added to my list of "must have more than one in the humi" list.

Thanks to all at C.com, you guys made my day.

I smoked the Gurkha Boer last night. I found it to be one of the mildest cigars I've ever smoked. It burned great, and I have no complaints with its construction. I didn't really care for the taste, or lack thereof. Maybe I need to develop my palate more, but I found it to be a little on the flavorless side. There were times while smoking, that I felt I was pulling more of the outside air than the actual smoke.

I would still recommend this cigar to a few of my friends who I golf with occasionaly and wouldn't be smoking otherwise. But I'm sure there are better tasting one's out there for the same price.
My 2 cents

I'm curious to hear anyone else's experience with these cigars.

man i love the boer, its been a lil while since i had one, but iirc its a double cameroon (wrapper and binder) and i think it has just a classic, wonderful cameroon taste

Gurkha Double X

Smoked this cigar last night and let me just say, I was expecting a lot more from this smoke especially for the price. I had been looking forward to smoking this cigar all week, only to have my hopes and dreams crushed

It started off great, one of the easiest draws I'd ever experienced. It tasted fine, but it was nothing special. I might have overhyped this cigar due to its price, and the interesting way it was shaped, but I have to say I was very disappointed with it. It smoked really well until it was about halfway done. It them became very difficult to keep lit, and started to burn just one side, I became so frustrated with it, I had to put it out.

This is just my experience with these, I may have received a bad one or something like that, but I for one will not be smoking another one of these, any time soon.

I didn't have any problems with my Gurkha Centurian XX. How long did you let it sit in your humi before lighting it up?

I smoked my Double X over the weekend also. Being that this was the featured one from the five CoTM I was very excited.
The shape was neat to look at and hold in hand, the mouth feel was ok….I kept waiting for the end to explode...reminded me on a cartoon cigar.

The pre light draw and smell was soft and airy. It lit fine, burned ok, and had a smooth draw. The smoke was cool and light. At the start it lacked flavor and only produced wisps of smoke. As the torpedo shaped end burned away and the body of the cigar started to cook I got wind of some spice, which only brushed against the tongue for a few moments and then hung at the back of the throat; neat affect….at first. I puffed away waiting for things to liven up a bit……sadly they did not. At about half way done there was no other noticeable flavor, the spice that was clinging to the back of my throat went from neat to annoying, and there was still very little smoke. I check a couple times to make sure it was burning even, it was and it ash’ed fine. At about 2/3 the thing went out on me. I stared at it for a few moments trying to decide if I wanted to re light it or not.

I didn’t.

When everything was said and done I was disappointed with the cigar; maybe I over anticipated it. There was some spice, but all in all the wrapper and the smoke where….bland and I would have liked a bit more smoke to play with.

I would call it mild and a bit boring, with the high light being the shape. I would not buy one.

As always the experience of trying a new brand, and shape, was fun.

These do best after a year, but they are pretty good out of the box. If you really want to get everything out of this cigar, be sure to blow the smoke out of your nose. This cigar does not offer a lot on the palate but demonstrates most of its flavor on the nose and finish. Just my .02 for those guys who have not fired it up yet.

In general you should always try to taste the cigar in your nose (exhale), palate (mouth), and finish (throat) all together. Many people rely only on their palate and they miss half the smoke. I did not start doing this until halfway through my smoking career and I had to go back and resmoke everything.

Gurkha Regent - Toro

Hooray!!! A Gurkha I actually enjoyed smoking. It was good enough for me to want to keep a few in my Humi, but the price on them are too high in my opinion.

I was very happy with the draw and I thought I tasted a bit of coffee in there, but who knows. The worse part about this cigar is its price.

:)

Yep, I received mine at the beginning of this week. I had to call them and change the credit card, since the one I was using had been compromised by that u-webtemplate thing.

You had that too huh? Where did it come from. I am still trying to get my $20 back.
