We need to get into the different degrees of bitterness. People who don't like cigars, think they STINK. People who don't like coffee think coffee makes them gittery and it's bitter. Even at 15 seconds there will be a certain taste, the oil, that will give a flavor sence of bitterness to some people. I smoked a Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 toro yesterday. I found myself thinking OMG this is the best tasting, smelling, looking, feeling cigar I have ever smoked in my life. That's me. I'll think that again about another cigar. That RP was just what I needed was looking for at that time. I'm sure you have had similar experiences. Coffee is like a cigar in the sence that we all have our own expectations and desires we look for. For 6 wonderful years I owned a Saeco Auto grind and dump Espresso maker. A $750 machine that I bought on the cheap from a coffee fella I know through work. Well, that machine had a 12 second brew cycle and made the finest cup of coffee in the world (for me). The machine died about a year ago and my buddy no longer deals in small machines so I too have a coffee press. I think the coffee comes out a little bitter. The science of coffee still remains. After 20 seconds the acids are released and the bitter flavor sence increases. To taste the difference between what we look for in that first cup that slaps us awake, to the afternoon cup that soothes our stress, is to find personal preference. Heck, I drink drip coffee all the time, I take a Pepcid and I'm fine. When it's time to relax and have a coffee and a beautiful cigar, I use my press and make the strongest possible cup of fire breathing, stomach eating, eye watering, hair on the chest, coffee in the world. But I only expose those grounds for 20 seconds.............
