Lol.. the magazine is only 5 bux, DD!

Can't find it ANYWHERE out here!

Hmm.....well, a subscription wouldnt be a bad idea. Its normally a damn good read. Ill read through it several times through the month until the next issue comes out. I always find things I didnt catch.

Man, I want to go to the Big Smoke!

I hate that rule that you have to be 21! Im 18months shy of 21 right now. They should just do like dance clubs do, like stamps or bracelets or something. I dont like alcohol unless it has Jager, Mark, scotch, or beer in its name.

I didn't get the mag yet... but what are the conditions for this? Is it the same as Octobers where you take the coupon to a cig store for redemption or is it a mail-in thing?

DD if you really want the Don Tomás that bad I'll send you my coupon. I'm not gonna use it.

For a Don Tomas?

Thank you, but no.

I appreciate the gesture, though.

DevilDog PM me your addi, I think something can be arranged. I know I really enjoy that magazine, and like syntax said, I re-read it all the time too.

I'm wondering what Vince's opinion on these coupons is. I'm thinking the shops have got to lose money in these. Being a business owner myself and being extremely busy with paperwork, payroll, inventory, and taxes, I know I would never end up sending these back. I bet 80% of the shops that get these and actually honor them never file for reimbursement. Maybe I'm just lazy and if that's the case I've admitted that many times before but to me its just Cigar companies promoting their products in ways that seem to me hazardous to those that actually sell them.

And to the rest of you I don't consider it greedy to redeem them so don't think I do but I know I as a business owner would not honor something like this.

I believe if you are an authorized dealer, you have to honor the coupons.

They send participating dealers free boxes with cigars to give out. The cigars are for the promo only (the dealer can't turn around and sell the cigars.) It's a good thing for dealers because it brings people into their store.

Usually, for every twelve coupons the dealer sends in to the company, they get a free box. So, the dealers DO make out.

So you mean to tell me you don't think that the cigar shops aren't getting some kind of kick-back from this? What about all of the free cigars the cigar reps give to retailers? I know for a fact, that Bolivar actually GAVE retailers boxes of the new blend JUST FOR THOSE COUPONS!! And if a retailer told me they wouldn't accept a coupon for a free cigar that cost them 2 bucks a stick, believe me, I would never shop there again. Also being a business owner, it is all about customer service. I would not want to lose a potential returning customer just to save 2 dollars by not "honoring" a redemption coupon. Customer retention, my friend.

I'm an owner in 4 retail locations, and we run this kind of promotion on our own ALL the time.

Driving new customers to your doors is the Holy Grail of retail; cuz, once I got you, I will do everything I can to KEEP you.

I was under the impression that the cigar companies were doing these promotions without prior payment (the cigars) to the dealers. The Royal Jamaican one that I got had instructions for the store owner to use in order to be reimbursed so I just thought all of these promotions were like that.

Plus, I also did not think of the fact that every time I go into my local shop planning on purchasing only a few cigars, I end up purchasing 10 or a box. That of course more than makes up for one cigar.

And so you all know, I'm in the antique business. I know all about keeping a customer coming back. I specifically watch for items and even make pieces for clients just to keep them coming back. I probably should have been more clear however on what I meant by not honoring the coupons. If I was being given boxes to use in the promo, of course I would redeem them. But even if that wasn't the case I still am not going to say "This is a worthless piece of paper to me so you might as well quit wasting your time." I would be polite about it and tell them I had no prior knowledge of the promo and as such could not accept it and instead offer them some other deal.

BTW, what is your business Capt? I thought you were a full time firefighter.
