I just got my humidor and it should be ready for cigars tomorrow some time. Should I take the cigars out of the plastic wrappers before I put them in? Or should I leave the wrappers on?

It's a matter of personal preference. For long term storage I take them out of the cello. Milder cigars would probably be better off remaining in the cello, unless they will be smoked within a couple months.

It is totally personal preference.... Incase anyone cares i prefer it off but usually am too lazy to take it off unless i buy an entire box.

As everyone is saying, it's all about preference.

Though, it's believed that proper aging requires the removal of the cello as it will allow the cigar to "breathe" better that way.

Since you are starting up a "new" humidor I suggest you leave the cello on for a while. This will give you time to get everything right.

Unless you only smoke near your humidor, I say leave them on.

Figure that you will put one in a jacket pocket at some time....toss it in a leather pouch, or gift one to a friend... cello helps protect them from rough handling. Not much is sadder than a roughed up wrapper on a premium cigar.

Everything else about aging and flavors marrying really don't apply to a start up humidor in most cases.

I would agree to leave them on at this point, cigars are much more resiliant with the cello's on plus it'll protect them in case your humidor doesn't have a constant RH at first, so until it levels out and is consistant for some time, I say leave 'em on!

In one of my desktops, it holds about two hundred, I have the top shelf in the Humidor filled with cigars that don't have cello, but those are for my patio only and won't be traveling anywhere....
Plus I just like the look of my humidor when I open it...naked cigars neatly lined up, and the smell is amazing!!!!

i leave them on because it protects them better when i am digging around looking for the right stick.

Uless you are aging them long term, leave the cello on. But it all a matter of preference.

The Cello slows the aging process....but really it a personal pref, I say leave 'em on until the humi is stable, then it's up to you about how you like to keep them....I just like the look of "naked cigars" in humidor...
