Look what I found on some Añejo's

So Cal
I spent this morning inspecting my cigars and I found these. In the past few years I've noticed that it is only the #55's that this occurs to. Anyone else see the same thing happening? These are from a box of singles of each size and none of the others were affected. I also noticed that sap came out of the cedar on 2 of them. Is it mold or bloom? Either way, I know what I'll be smoking the next few nights

axe you got mold. Not to worry though, it is not the blue kind. Just wipe it off and smoke it down. I live by this little saying when it comes to cigar and mold "If it is white, you are alright. If it is blue, you are going to spu!"

Macallan's the man again. He got it right. Sort of bloom, but more mold, and like the man said, harmless. I've even wiped blue mold off cigars, smoked them, and had no problem. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

You got that right Bloof. I'm glad I caught it early cuz it would have sucked to have had to throw em out.

Speaking of mold and bloom. Both of the boxes that I purchased of the Cusano C10s had little white spots on them straight out of the mail.

I could have sworn it was bloom because it looked pretty solid and didn't have the normal flowery look of mold.

For reference, you can look at the picture attached by Axe. The stick on the left, the bottom spot is usually what I associate with mold. It has a bit of a flowery look and smears if you rub it.

What I had on the C10s looked more like the second stick in Axe's picture. They were smaller and more solid looking spots.

Now, like I said, I thought that I was very lucky to have bloom on them before I even had to marinate them, but now I am not so sure. Any thoughts? Do you think that I actually had mold?

Plume or Bloom tends to be raised (elevated off the wrapper of the cigar) and crystal like in appearence, where mold has a softer appearence (cotton like appearence). A good way to determine mold is to look at your rh, if it is in the 70% or higher range your most likely looking at mold.

Threadjack.....curious as to the origin of your name there Calibus. I had a young nephew when visiting the ranch a number of years ago called my stock trailer the "cow bus". Still to this day the name kind of stuck, Calibus brought that to mind.

Now back to your regularly scheduled mold.......

 Well, it definately has nothing to do with cows or busses. It is just a name I made up a long time ago to use as an online handleback when I was a teenager.

I believe Plume/Bloom is normally spread evenly over the cigar as well....I am not positive....but I believe it's the case....

got a box of diplomas last night, two of the cigars have pinkish red spots on them. i looked at them with a jewelers eye and they dont look fuzzy, more like tobaco that got wet or somthing, the edges of the spot are kindof stressed like the skin around a small scab looks. i figure ill just keep them bagged and scratch off the little spots with a knife.

I think I get it now. Calibus, as in "California Bus." If he hadn't explained it, I never would have thought to think about it. This is making my head hurt. I have to go check the level of blond(e) again.

Oh no, now that you ut that crap in their head that is what everyone is gonna think about when they see my name from now on. You can buy my forgiveness by mailing me a couple Cubans.

I had the last of the 3 Añejos last night and each one was great. They all burned perfect which is weird because if they were over-humidified wouldn't they have had burn issues :dunno:
The only thing I noticed was a slight sore throat the following morning so maybe I missed wiping some off. Or maybe I'm being punished for enjoying 3 #55's in a row
