Macanudo

we just went on a large tangent, no one is saying that every one that smokes macs are rich a holes, its just... yea, i got nothing lol.

Well, like I said, it's not a problem with me, but my unvarnished opinion is that smoking a Macanudo tastes a lot like breathing. So does smoking a regular Leon Jimenes. Why pay $4-7 for a tobacco stick with no flavor? Not knocking anyone, just stating a widely held opinion. I'll also state something else that I've been saying for the past five years, which is that the best cigar in the world is the one YOU think is best, even if it is a Macanudo. Nothing heated here, just opinion.

Bloof, I agree with Axegod when he said you really hit the nail on the head. I think your statements are how most of us feel, except YOU can keep them G rated. Lately I have seen more and more Metro-sexuals in the cigar shop buying up those Acid tins. It is just the "cool thing" to have right now. But, I can guarantee you this. You will never see those kind of people in this forum. They don't care about the cigars, they care about being cool. The people here in this forum care about cigars, and from what I have seen, care about each other. If you left this forum today, and didn't come back for a year, I can guarantee the same people will still be here.

And all this started from a Macanudo thread!!!!!

I recall a cigar party we had at Club Macanudo in NY.
A friend's friend was smoking a Mac and placed it in the ashtray.
I pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed it several times.
The person (don't remember his name) was very upset.
I handed him a fine Cuban cigar and asked if he wouldn't rather smoke that? At that point he pulled out 2 other Mac. he had and asked if I could stab them as well!

One per customer I told him

haha...thats a great story. Sounds like my sense of humor

I guess those cigars have given us something positive after all!!  :rotflmao: :neer:

Well I would just like to go on record to say that if you have money or you are a republican that does not make you an a hole. Being a republican just makes you actually care about keeping your money and not giving it away to free loaders :D

Anyway I hate getting into politics among friends so we wont go there.

I will say something surprising though. Ready???? Macanudo robust is not horrible. Dont get me wrong now. I hate mac as much as the next guy, but the mac robust I have had was not the worst cigar I ever smoked. It actually had a little flavor.

Tommy, dont be frightened away. We are a good bunch I promise. As for the recomendation, DIPLOMA DIPLOMA DIPLOMA :D

Now THAT! my friend...is profound. :D

I really find myself accross the board on politics. We have some really great minds running this country. The only thing that gets to me are people who do not love this country, the Jane Fondas of the world. Good thing we dont have a lot of anti america people running around this board. :D

Now if only say Camacho could replace Macanudo as americas best selling brand. IT WOULD BE A PROUD DAY IN MY BOOK FRIENDS.

I have been on the fringe of financial ruin all my adult life and grew up in the ghetto, but I have been voting Republican for quite some time. By all means, most of the Macanudo smokers I am referring to are in fact Democrats, with some of them being "limousine liberals," or close to it. The political thing wasn't much on my mind, nor a large part of my point, just to clarify. There are VERY FEW Republicans in NYC, no matter how rich people get. NYC and the surrounding area breeds very few Republicans.

The main thrust was to point up a certain kind of demographic and it cuts across party lines. I mean, look at the Kennedys. They're filthy rich, and to them the only good Republican is a dead Republican.

I merely wanted to point out what had happened to cigar smoking, and that smoking Macanudos was symptomatic of something that Capt pointed out, looking "cool" and being with "the 'in' crowd." That was the main thrust, and that's definitely not about party lines. After all, the "in crowd" thing was invented by counterculturists during the 60's. It was picked up by them again when they decided to show their phoniness in full bloom, abandoned their revolutionary roots, "grew up", got MBA's and started chasing the same Status Symbol Land whose flag they once burned. Unfortunately, they didn't really grow up, they just shifted their focus to something that wouldn't leave them destitute and starving by age 30.

Remember Jerry Rubin's book, Growing Up At 37?

It's beginning to look like the 60's are forming again in NYC. I simply can't count the number of Che Guevara t-shirts I see on the streets of NYC whenever I go down there. What a bunch of maroons. Those same people will be signing pieces of paper to lay off 10,000 workers when they are 50, while they vacation on Cape Cod.

Oh, and Macanudo Robust sucks too. :neer: :cryinlaugh:

:sm_angel:

I did not say in didnt suck, I just said it wasnt horrible. Definately nothing I would smoke ever again. I am wondering when the 97 tobacco is going to run out???

AAAAANNNNNNND CUT!!!!!!!!

Move along folks!! There is nothing further to see here!!!!

Here is an interesting question, what cigar do you think would be the best "americas best selling brand" i mean to replace macanudo?

I think the Flor de Olivas would outsell macanudo in volume of cigars if people knew it was out there. What a cigar for the money!!

Obviously I would like to see camacho but that will never happen, I think the aroma is too complex to please the generic cigar smoker.

I believe the RyJ Dominican line could very easily become the favorite. The do sell very well and do taste like a cigar.

I talked with my friend that owns the local smoke shop, and asked him that question. He said around our area, (west of Detroit) La Gloria Cubana outsells crapanudo 2-1. Mostly the Serie R, #4. It is definitely a favorite of mine! Ryan
